Hi,
I have a question about whether the windscreen wipers should 'go to the next speed down' when the car comes to a halt. e.g if the wipers are on slow continuous and the car stops should they go to intermittent? My previous car (Peugeot) did this but my 500X doesn't now but I seem to remember that it did when I first got it or am I mis-remembering?
Thanks
Nico

Nope nothing like this on any fiat
Never even heard of this until now

That being said doesn't the 500x have auto wipers?

Does this on my 2014 panda. Pull up at the lights wipers will go to intermittent

Does your car have automatic wipers? If the switch is positioned in one of those automatic modes (see the attached photo), the wipers should slow down during stops. If I remember correctly, in LOW or HIGH mode they don't react to a halt at all.

Mine doesn't have auto wipers so I guess I'm remembering my previous car!

According to the 500X handbook:

Postion 1 - Double back to back "D" - the pause time between the strokes of the windscreen wiper is about 10 seconds, independently of the vehicle speed.

Postion 2 - Double back to back "D" with vertical separator - the pause time between two strokes is set according to the vehicle speed: when the speed
increases, the time between two strokes decreases.

In position LOW or HIGH, the windscreen wiper moves continuously, i.e. without a pause between two strokes.

Yes, as explained in the manual, the first two positions are intermittent:

"Rotate the windshield wiper knob to one of the two detent positions for intermittent settings, the third detent for low wiper operation and the fourth for high wiper operation."

Unfortunately, the manual doesn't specify what happens during stops, but as I remember the wipers slow down at halt if they are in one of those automatic modes.

UPDATE: I checked the wiping behavior today and it turns out I was wrong. Wipers DO NOT slow down at halt in any of the two intermittent modes. The interval is always 10 seconds in the ᗡᗞ mode and it's about 6 seconds in the ᗡ∣ᗞ mode during a full stop.

Mine have never come to a stop but in position 2 the faster I go the faster/quiicker/shorter sweep interval is.

Yes, that one depends on speed, but from what I've observed it has only two intervals: 6 sec and 3 sec. I don't think it gets any faster than that.

I was wrong. Again! Just needed to drive faster. :D At highway speeds it becomes almost continuous. My new favorite mode!
