Hi everyone, are the break bulbs type the same as the DRL's? 382 type? It is a 65 plate one.
Thanks.

LED bulbs may not work on the rear side lights / brake lights.

The 500 X uses TWO 21W normal bulbs for the COMBINED brake and side lights. These are wired in parallel and ARE MULTIPLEX.

When on side lights only then both bulbs in each light unit are fed with a modulated waveform (I think a 40% or 50% duty cycle square wave). When braking this goes to 100% duty cycle.

So the bulbs are fed with anything between 4.8V/6V and the full 12V. The lower voltage may not be sufficient to energise LED replacements. When running at the lower voltage then the drive electronics on the the LED units may be running in an overdrive mode resulting in premature failure. All depends on the individual device design.
