Technical Aftermarket Stereo - Steering Controls

Looking to fit an aftermarket stereo into my 500X - probably looking at the JVC 745DBT.

Definitely want to retain the steering wheel controls, so looked on the Connects2 website, and found product CTUFT02 (link below.) This is the only product that I can find for the 500X, but it specifically says on the Vehicle applications tab 'For vehicles with Speech button only.'

Has anyone had any success in fitting an aftermarket stereo into a 500X and keeping the stalk controls?

Not changed mine from the factory uConnect 5.

Besides do the steering wheel buttons work you need to seriously check out the vehicle settings functions. The original uConnect has various vehicle set-up functions that are not available on the steering wheel menu settings.

The stereo that I have in my Pop is incredibly basic and I don't think that there is any integration; I think it's all through the steering wheel controls and the mini display above the speedo.

However, you're quite correct, it'll make my life seriously difficult if that is an issue, so I'll be checking that out in the morning before I go any further.

Double checked and there aren't any vehicle controls that are accessed from the stereo. I emailed Connects2 to enquire, and this was the response.

'The issue with the vehicles without the speech button is that you will not be able to enter the menu for the Infodaptor. Although you do not have vehicle settings there is a Security setting that will may need to be accessed in the menu of the Infodaptor. If you have the wrong security setting then the Odometer will flash and there will be no way to stop the flashing Odometer without entering the Infodaptor menu.
Unfortunately we do not have an alternative interface.'

You can usually get iso conversion kits for most cars. Don’t t see why the X would be any different.

Did you manage to fit the Jvc stereo? Can you post a photo please? Thanks.
