My local dealer has one and it's quite sauce. :D

Personally, I'm not a fan of the graphite finish - it's the default on the door handles, the foglamp surrounds, the boot and bumper highlights and the mirrors, as well as the dashboard but if I had one and if I could resist the urge to convert all those to chrome, then I could get used to it.. it's not bad looking, I just like more shiny. :D

The steering wheel has suede/alcantara grips, which I do dislike though and there's less prospect of dumping the wheel for an all-leather one (though again, I'm sure there's aftermarket corrections/re-trims possible).

I like them - several used cars (probably ex-Demo's) now appearing on AT too.
Probably defeats the object in lowering the ride height of the original idea of the 500X as a small SUV - and I still don't like how they have continued to cover the hole left by the drive selector (Sport/Auto/Traction) etc by covering with a plastic cap. The 1.0 I can see on AT also appears to have an 'old-style' key to turn as opposed to a Push-button start?

Agreed, the plastic cap looks cheap. I assume they still offer the drive selector on some models still sold in other markets and have therefore not bothered to redesign the whole panel - I imagine the 4x4 versions would still have the selector, but these have been dropped in the UK of course :(

I think the keyless start is only optional across the range now too, hence the traditional key. I personally don't mind that though, because of the vulnerabilities of a keyless system - having to store the key a certain distance from the vehicle or in a farraday pouch to block the signals, etc.

The keyless entry and start is quite a nice feature BUT a real potential security and safety risk.

On my 500X (2015) I can turn of the keyless entry but from then on engine start is keyless as in no mechanical/physical key.

A hybrid system would be a halfway house, keyless unlock, traditional key to start, but I can see this going down like a led balloon when the additional step of "blow to start" becomes compulsory.

Enter the "DNA Blow Access and Breathalyser" feature. Approach vehicle with multiple bags in the wet. Put bags on gorund to get soaked. Open small flap on driver side door/wing. Pull out tube. Blow. Car unlocks. Restore tube, close flap, grab bags, ... timeout .... repeat process but this time open door and let bags soak up more water.

I know I'm jesting here but I think we can all see where this all gets more complicated and crazy.

I like the good old fashioned mechanical key/remote button entry and the smart/chipped mechanical key to start up. A sort of two factor authentication. Mechanical form and electronic form.

It won't be there to stop the car unlocking but to stop the engine starting

It's quite common in New Zealand on cars owned by people convicted of drunk driving

No problem with this for known/convicted drunk drivers.

The EU is mandating that these sorts of controls are inflicted upon the innocent in ALL new cars.

What about crane drivers. People whole sail boats, yachts, drive mobility carriages and push prams?

Of the x millions of drivers around the world only a very few ( 0.0000X% percentage wise) are offenders yet the rest have to be tarred with the same brush.
