Guys,

Does anyone have these scratches on the inside of the bi xenon headlights?
Clearly visible when the lights are on.

I understand hazing or cracking on the inside, but scratches? Those look like typical outside scratches, only on the inside. Weird. Can't wait for someone to explain this.

You can click the link and enlarge the picture.
For me they are little scratches all over, as if it was rubbed with a dirty rag inside

Are the headlights (or the car itself for that matter) used or new? Any chance they could have been disassembled before?

That's exactly my thought.
The Fiat dealer claims that they are brand new.
The headlights are been replaced because of condensation.
Now i have this,
i can't remember that i have this scratches with my original set.

I think they are refurbished ones, opened cleaned out and reassembled.
Due to cleaning, small scratches have been made that are only visible when the xenon beam falls on it.

You think that is possible ?
The dealer said that they are original Fiat stock headlights.
I can't imagine that they left the factory that way.

Well yes, I think it's possible. They could be original stock, but refurbished. I would press the dealer about this.

I have done this already, they have taken photo's and are going to submit it to fiat.
They ultimately decide what happens to it.
I hope there are still new ones available and not just only refurbished ones.
They no longer make this model lamp i think now that there are LED headlights.

What about switching to LED then? Not an option? I personally prefer xenon, but still.

The car is still under warranty.
Fiat says they cannot change the headlights to LED's under guarantee.
It must be the same headlights according to the base number of the car.
I had already suggested this.
They will let me know this week what they will do with it.
As it is now, it is not acceptable for me.

I see. Thanks for explaining. I hope this will get sorted out to your satisfaction. Cheers!

If the lights are unavailable, then the dealer could have opened up yours (or someone else's) old lamps, "cleaned" them with a wire brush or something and then re-assembled them. I'd be surprised if those are new lamps.

The dealer claims that the units are brand new, but that there is maybe a manufacturing defect in it.
I don't believe a word of it.
The question is why Fiat provide used light units as replacement ?

The lamps were replaced for the second time yesterday and it is the same again.
According to the garage mechanic, the lamps are brand new and this is a normal feature of these lamps.
I find it all very strange.

I would put that statement to a test by finding those exact headlamps (part number and everything) somewhere else and comparing. But if they're discontinued that could prove somewhat challenging.

You can't see it by holding another unit just in your hand.
The lamp must be connected and lit to see the damage.

I have sent an email with a photo to Fiat Belgium, see what they say.

I didn't necessarily mean holding it in your hand. You could check it on someone else's car.
