Technical Which spark plugs?

Anyone know if standard plugs can be improved upon? On the little 500 you can install platinum tipped ones that will probably last longer than the car and give improved starting etc.

Is it the same for the 1.4 multiair?

Dont see why not most moden engines could probably be improved with these plugs

Definately and I know the little 500 twinair comes with them as standard.

I remember buying some iridium plugs for my twinair engine. I looked up the part number on the NGK website and bought some from an ebay shop. They are reputed to have double the life of standard plugs.

The Iridium (needle electrode) plugs in my latter Alfas never gave me any trouble... so it's tempting to take them for granted and say "they don't make a huge difference".

So instead I'd say give them a go... they won't improve a good engine since the regular plugs should be enough for perfect conditions... but the Iridium/Platinum ones will last longer and give you a bit more of an edge if/when ignition conditions are more difficult.

Just get the right size and heat range. Particularly don't fit projecting nose plugs if your original plugs are not projecting nose (it will end badly rather immediately).

Yeah, ditto, just use NGK or Denso but not Bosch rubbish.

To be fair... I never had a problem with Bosch. I tend to end up with NGK more often than not, sometimes Denso or Marelli.. but if I had to drive across the desert in something with just a single cylinder engine, then I'd buy Champion..
