OK, I know it's not the most serious problem but it's driving me nuts simply because I can't work it out.

The Service Indicator counts down the miles quite happily, although bizarrely it counts down from 12,470 instead of 12,500, but the number of days stubbornly remains at 365 for the last 3 and a half years.

It gets reset every service but the number of days remains constant.

Am I missing something simple in the 'settings'? The garage couldn't find a fix for it while it was under warranty and it isn't worth spending money on, I just thought that the collective brains of the forum might have a simple fix having encountered it before.

You have the 2.0L MJET? This would be consistent with 12.5k mile service interval.

I've looked on MES (MultiECUScan) and unlike to old Croma 16V 150BHP MJET you can only do a service reset and oil change reset AND set the number of service coupons. On the Croma MJET you could set your own service interval in miles and/or days. I remember playing with these setting and found to results to be a bit iffy.

On my 500X 1.4 Multiair, like for the 2.0MJet, one can also only do the service reset and oil change reset AND set the number of service coupons. On my 500X 1.4 the reset sets the service interval to 9K miles and 365 days and both do count down.

I'm wondering if on the diesel models with extended mileage service intervals and the oil degradation counter that Fiat decided to dispense with the days counter?

With MES on can look at miles and days since last service, oil change, etc. and this would confirm if the ECU / Service node are counting down the days or not.

Thanks

As I don't envisage covering more than 12,500 miles in a year it shouldn't be a major problem, the mileage counter alone should suffice.

It just confuses an old person [emoji33]

Meant to add.

The Croma and most modern Fiats have only nine "service coupons" in the body computer. The coupon counts are decrement each time a service reset is done. Once all 9 services have been carried out there will be no further service warnings coming up on the dashboard.

I suspect you have had more than 9 services and the days are no longer counting down hence being stuck at 365 and the system will no longer remind you of your next service.

The miles counting down may? be because your garage has done a service reset (which the should) and despite having no coupons left the mileage to next service is being reset but no action will be taken base on mileage. HOWEVER you should still get the Oil Change warning which is controlled by the engine ECU and not the Service Control Unit.

If you wanted to (assuming you have used all the service coupons) then MES / other equipped diagnostic kit can put the coupon count back to 9 and the days will start counting down again.

I know nothing about service coupons, all I know is that I bought the car with 8,500 miles on the clock and the dealership serviced it 'early'. I have had 3 further services 12 months apart from the date of the 'early' service and as far as I know the days have NEVER counted down since the day I bought it. I dare say Fiat will say that it's something to do with it being an ex-rental car, that seems their normal excuse for things [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
