I have bought replacement LED's for 500x and they work okay but have residual light when everything is turned off. Any suggestions? Is this where I need to fit resistors? Any idea of what size if I have to and how and where to fit it?

Yep mine do that too! As mentioned goes off after a while. Funnily enough they also 'glow' if you attempt to open a locked door handle for a few minutes too. Won't be an issue though.

I'm not going to say the obvious

but can explain why the LEDs have "after glow". The lamp failure detection circuit passes a small current through the bulb when it's off to check it's resistance. This current is not enough to light a filament but will cause a LED to glow dimly. The current goes off after the ignition is shut down.

I ve tried today to swap the normal DRL to led on my 65 plate 500x but the bulbs glow dimly even with the ignition off. Any ideas?

Replacing DRLs from normal filament to LEDs is going to present different and interesting issues from vehicle to vehilce and body computer to body computer (BC) depending on BC make, production date and sofware/firmware levels.

As can be seen people have had differing / varying results from no function, bulb failure warnings, after glow, etc.

What may work for one person may not work for another due to BC differences etc. Can and probably will be a lottery.

So if they still stay on after the engine is off they will drain the battery..eventually.

I would not go so far as to say that but it may be a remote possibility.

Gone are the days of a simple 12V via a switch to a bulb/LED. Body computers that control main running lights (and other stuff) are getting far more sophisticated, complex and in many cases defy the normal and traditional expectations of vehicle owners.

This is only too exampled by the so called "can bus" ready replacement LED/bulb. There is in 99% of cases no such unit. All that has been done is to place a passive load equivalent to what a normal bulb would draw power/current wise in parallel with the lower demand LED element. CAN BUS has nothing, zero, zilch to do with it. CAN BUS is a device to device communication protocol (like in your PC to your router/network). For these LED replacement units to be CAN Bus enabled/compliant they they would have to have integrated "node" communications processors that can exchange data to and from the body computer and other vehicle system nodes. They don't have these functions and are badly miss marketed just waiting for the average punter to take the bait.

What about this kit?

Update on the DRL Led's. I decided to give it a second try with the nulbs from Halfords and i fitted them again on the car..and for whatever reason now they work perfect. Once the engine is off the bulbs are of as well..[emoji2]

Mine seem to hold a small amount of current for a short while after engine off. Not long enough to worry over though and only a light glow as opposed to normal running illumination.

These are the ones I ordered although they do not appear to be available currently on Amazon - Been on nearly years now with no issues/errors at all.......
