I drive 2016 500x trekking and ta-da! Look what i just got..
I’m in Atlanta, GA and this car is not common here. Most of the local body shops have never dealt with 500x and it makes me nervous to let them fix my car.
So i think i should go to dealer... and i’m afraid if they will give me a crazy estimation. Anyone has any idea about this? Do you guys think my bumper should be replaced or can be just repaired? Seems like the tiny taillight obviously needs replacement though.

Plastic bumpers often have foam behind to help them keep their shape. Using heat to reform the bumper will only fix the outer cover, but with such a small dent should be fine.

Dealers are more likely to wish to replace the whole thing, as are larger bodyshops. Here in the UK we have 'paintless dent removal' specialists. They specialise in small repairs, and as the name suggests generally can reshape without damaging the paint. I'd expect such a thing to be available in the US too.

I'd suggest you visit your local bodyshop, who may do or have access to the paintless system, and the dealer, plus look aroound for 'paintless' guys. Get several opinions and quotes and go from there.

Could just replace the broken light and live with the dent.

This is where the Comprehensive Cover insurance comes in handy. Where I live, it covers all sorts of accidents, no matter the cause. I just got the whole roof repainted and paid nothing but the standard franchise fee of 100 EUR. If not for the insurance, I would have had to cough up about 1500 EUR.

It all depends on how much the damage will cost to fix. A claim on a policy might have £500 excess but if it'll add £100+ per year to your policy, it doesn't make long term sense to make a claim for a £1000 repair. Also, your NCD will be affected if it is not protected. Insurance in the UK is such a rip off.

Thank you for your kind reply Portland_Bill. I changed my mind and will go to local body shop first. And thinking to order touch up paint pen (or jar). :)

I do have comprehensive coverage but trying not to use my insurance. It doesn’t look a major damage (compare to such a car accident or sth) and repair with my pocket money is worth than making my insurance cost higher with getting an accident record.. :( But thank you for your reply, Goodcoin.

The roof was in a really bad shape, dents and scratches everywhere, and the repair would be too costly for me to cover of the pocket. Anyway, insurance works differently here in Lithuania. As far as I know, the monthly fee doesn't bump up permanently just because your car needed a costly repair. They need carelessness on your behalf, like causing road accidents, etc. Natural disasters or damage caused by other parties don't count against you.

Even non fault claims increase your policy cost in the UK.
