Had warning light ref Driving light/parking light. The bulb had blown and the glass part had separated and was sat in the lens. Metal part of bulb stuck in the holder and had melted the plastic.Had hell of a job removing it from the holder.Wasn’t expecting a 5 min job to take so long.....

Bulb changes in most moderns require double-jointed ET-like digits to assist in changing I find! How many miles have you done to warrant a change?

Ours went the other day, 16k miles 2017 car. Replaced them with Cree led ones

Ours went today on the passanger side. 28k miles and 2.5 years old.

I will also be buying LED replacements, I will take the risk RE: them not being E Marked.

The bulb holder melted on mine too. Dealer replaced under warranty. I added it to the list floating around in this 500x part of the forum.

Very odd that DRL units can melt!

Well, I went to order some Cree Twenty20 LED replacements and everyone is sold out. I have emailed and asked when they will be available again.

I suspect, I will on this occasion have to purchase some normal replacement bulbs, unless anyone can recommend another brand they have used that didn't fail or give errors?

I think that's because Fiat chose the cheap Halogen option......

I bought these last year - 2x LUFFY 382 P21W 1156 BA15s Bulb SAMSUNG LED Reverse Tail Stop Indicator Light Daytime Running Lamp DRL Sidelight White: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

Have been perfect. No issues / errors. Again I am happy to 'risk' being stopped/failed however they are far safer as brighter than the OE fit...

Thanks! Just changing mine now. How do you remove the flaps? I can see it has two plastic rivets. Do you just firmly pull these out?

Pry the round caps away with a thin screwdriver, the centre is a push fit into the plug.

And now the other bulb has gone the same way! Exactly the same, glass coming away leaving base stuck in the holder. There has to be an issue with the manufacture of the original bulbs. Now all sorted.

Same happened on ours. Removed wheel, mud guard, pulled out the light and shook out the broken off bulb. New bulbs installed on both sides. 6 years and 56,000km

Thanks for the photos that's really helpful.

Two thoughts:
1. Does anyone know if it's possible to switch to LED bulbs in place of incandescent?
2. Admins should this be promoted to a guide?
