General Front brakes

Being main dealer I just had to put up with it. Prices per disc were £130 each plus£60 for pads so with vat then labour hence daft prices. Out of warranty now so next time?.....

Mine was serviced by a Fiat dealer, just the brake pad guarantee that isn't backed by Fiat. Discs were £104 FOR THE PAIR, and pads £58, plus VAT and labour

The car has to go on the diagnostic machine for the rear pads to be changed as the electric handbrake has to be disengaged to wind the calipers back.

500x brake pads have loads of meat on them by the way, they last for ages. I was going to change mine when I put my drilled discs on at 18000 miles but there was still around 4mm on the pads.
That’s why the genuine fiat pads are expensive, because they last.

That would explain the higher cost of the rears then, thank you

1.6 lounge 15 plate -46k front disks and pads changed at Halfords Autocentre-£226.

When my 500x went to a Dealer for another matter they carried out what they called a Health Check!

I noted on the form they said my front discs n pads are 70 % worn but rears 40 %.
Looking at other threads from present & past members they seem to last for quite some time-my car has just done over 40k!

Apparently no major pitting or rusting!

Not sure how they measure the depth left in the pads/discs to gauge this?

Will the brakes last another year & does anyone know if warning light comes on when pads too low?

Its been sat outside most of this terrible year due to the Lockdowns- in fact i have only done just over 1k since July, when it was serviced!?

Going off topic - now wondering if it makes economic sense to go down to 1 car (Panda 4x4) as mostly WFH with occasional commute?!?
