Has anyone else noticed that even though you have your Speedo set to MPH - if you have your central dial display set to show the Navigation directions - the speed display is only available in KMH? :(

Not sure I totally follow

BUT

There appears to be some disparity in setting the Sat Nav to km and vehicles km/mph setting.

Personally on Sat Nav I like the km setting as it (when far away or nearing a junction) counts down in metres. On UK settings you get a mixture of mile, fractions of miles and eventual yards. Very confusing.

What I mean is if you have a destination set on your Nav - If you then select the Navigation view from you central dial in front of the steering wheel - where it gives you the arrowed directions - the Speed you are doing is also displayed at the top of the view but is only in Kmh even if your Speedo setting is in UK MPH.

Mine is in mph so must be a seeing in the Sat nav screen

What you observe is "normal". The top right speed display is always and fixed to KPH only. This has been brought up before here and I assume by many customers as fiat have a bulletin about this very issue/point.

Quote:

"Inform the customer that the speed indication is in KM/H and it cannot be changed in MPH for a type-approval requirement and therefore this is not a fault." :D

That is a bonkers Fiat UK reply - how can it be a Type-Approval Requirement when UK cars are displaying Kmh?!? Someone hasn't thought something through properly. I've been through every option panel I can think of to change. Wonder how Dean's is working then?

Might not be as daft as you think. On UK 500X vehicles the traditional dial speedo in in MPH only. Other Fiat models have dual MPH/KPH legends. The digital speed can of course be set to MPH or KM. However this digital speedo is not available 100% of the time as it is actually a "Multi Function Display" and not a dedicated speedo. I guess hence what the upper left speed indicator is in KPH so at all times the vehicle speed is available in MPH and KPH.

EU regulation below. :)

Regulation No 39 of the Economic Commission for Europe of the United Nations (UN/ECE) — Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to the speedometer equipment including its installation - Revision 1

5.1.1 - Speed values shall be indicated at intervals not exceeding 20 km/h.

5.1.2 - In the case of vehicles manufactured for sale in any country where imperial units are used, the speedometer shall *also* be marked in miles per hour (mph); the graduations shall be of 1, 2, 5 or 10 mph. The values of the speed shall be indicated on the dial at intervals not exceeding 20 mph and commencing at 10 or 20 mph.

I still think its crazy. So if I am following my Nav directions - panel 5 on the central dial I have no way of knowing how fast I am going in MPH which is what we use here. Another reason to sod the EU!

I've noticed that. The Europeans don't need to have mph but we have to have km/h.... Sounds fair.. :D
