Hi I have a misting fog lamp causing lamp to blow! Lens isn’t cracked and occurs every time I wash the car!
Any suggestions! If I told you Fiat Customer Services say it’s because the lamp is blown it’s misting up hence no claim, would anyone be surprised?!?

I can only state the bleedin obvious and suggest a water leak in the housing somewhere.

As for Fiat CS they disappoint me more with every contact. They don't seem to really have a clue about anything, and in the past have actually lied to me.

I had misting up of both tail lamps on a new Punto. No cracks etc but both replaced under warranty.

IMG_0671.JPGCould be this panel letting water in.?!? I spoke to Shop4Parts and they say if it’s panel letting in water it could mean whole wheel arch liner?!? [emoji15]

I'm not sure I can help any more, but if it is the wheel arch liner it might just be short of a stud/screw/clip somewhere. I hope you get it sorted soon though

Typically I was going to look at this today having put off last week, but it’s blowing a hooley out there, chucking it down!? Maybe just need to get on with it.

That’s just the access panel to get to the bulb.
I noticed mine misting up last year along the same time as the windscreen washers doing the front and the back at the same time.
The dealer said their wasn’t a fault with it and that they just do from time to time.
To get to the unit it means removing the front bumper which is something I didn’t want to do. They do still must up occasionally however it is only on the odd occasion of a cold morning.

The fog light is a pretty much sealed (plastic welded) unit. However leaks can occur leading to excess condensation.

Bypass Fiat customer services and go to your dealer. For the lower cost warranty claims they have complete discretion and will just replace the unit.

As is happens I've just had my O/S fog/cornering light replaced as the internal reflector rattled badly when the lamp was tapped or rubbed when washing the car.

I delayed having it replaced under warrany to stack up any other minor issues all to be sorted just before the 3 years is up.

As for the access panel. There are only two plastic "push pin rivets". The fog light is well forward of this panel (some 10 to twelve inches+) so water past the panel is not the cause. Water around the front of the lens and bumper aperture is the most likely cause.

The fog light mounts with 3 screws only.

The bulb holder is easy to remove and should have a rubber seal on it. Worth checking.
