Hi! I’m new to this forum. Thinking of getting a 2016 500X which was previously a rental with 45,000 miles. Have a couple of questions. Any known common mechanic issues with them? Then, is it expensive to get the repairs done? Wouldn’t want to buy a vehicle and right away start having trouble. Is there any way I can buy an extended guarantee for it? The asking price is $12,500, is that a reasonable price for a rental with 45,000 miles. I appreciate all the help I can get.

You are in the states, right? I bought my car used, too. It's also 2016, and, coincidentally, the US version. Can't say anything definitive about the price without having the trim specifics, but I can say that $12,500 would be a fair deal if the trim level is at least a bit higher than basic.

As for the possible issues, there shouldn't be any major problems, maybe just minor nuisances like the tailgate switch breakage, which seems to be widespread in the initial release. My car had the same problem. Other than that, I haven't encountered anything worth mentioning or warning about.

As for the guarantees, repair terms and such, I imagine it varies from region to region, so given the fact that this is a UK forum, maybe you won't be able get any relevant info here about the US situation in that regard.
