I have a one year old Fiat 500x Popstar which has done 7,000 miles and has just had its first service.
When starting the engine, the Amber engine warning light flashed up along with ‘drive mode not available’ and ‘handbrake on’ though it wasn’t. Consulting the manual, it advised do not drive and consult Fiat dealer who told me to contact Fiat roadside.
I turned off/on the engine two or three times and eventually all warning lights disappeared.
Fiat roadside said there was no point in assisting if the problem was not appearing.
My Fiat dealer service guy said just monitor the problem and if it re-appeared bring it in for an inspection. He thought it was a software glitch that just needed re-setting by turning the engine on/off.
All this has had the unsettling effect of slightly losing confidence in the car in case this happens again. If it does, how do I know if it’s a serious problem or the same thing happening again. Or am I worrying unnecessarily.
Thanks in advance for any help.

It seems to be a common glitch. No idea what causes it, but a few of us have suffered from it. There never seems to be any faults recorded on ECU, and everything seems to function normally once the lights go out again. Just do what the Fiat guy says, it should be OK

Sounds like battery problems. Loose batt cable/flat battery? These warning lights often come on with this.
