At last picked up my new to me 500 X has a nice cross country drive on the way home!!

Nice. I was going to say I have the same colour too (looks like passione red) but then saw what looks like the "opening edition" badge on the drivers door so presume it's the other red.

I didn't know there were two different reds. This is my car. Now that I compare the photos, maybe it's different. What do you think?

For both under different lighting they can look 3 or so different colours, for the passione it's sometimes deep red, sometimes more a scarlet colour, sometimes a medium red. The amore red is different, and a bit brighter, under certain lighting it can have an orange hue to it.

In the Uk the opening edition was always tricoat amore red which is about £1,000 option when it was available, detail here https://www.topspeed.com/cars/fiat/2015-fiat-500x-opening-edition-ar165766.html

Until recently the passione red was the designated free colour on the 500x.

I drove an opening edition (hated the 18" wheels), and while the amore red colour was fine I do slightly prefer the passione red I have on the car I ultimately bought.

Just noticed that link I posted appears to be an US one. Have you got the safety pack on yours? I have and I like it.

Thanks, it changes in different light!
Had a flat red car before but never metallic red!
Goodcoin is right, it’s Amore Red, as stated it’s the Tri - Coat paint, I think Amalfi Yellow is the same!!??
I believe MY 2018 there a. Purple of new colours!

I just checked my vehicle info at Mopar.com and it states Rosso Amore (Tri-coat Red). Never noticed any orangey overtones, though.

What about those 18" wheels? I'm switching to them for the summer in a couple of days, so what should I expect other than a harder ride, typical for the lower profile?

I just found the ride too hard, so much so getting one with 18" wheels was a dealbreaker for me.

Most likely the 18" wheels in your case had the default 45 profile tires. I'm going with 50, so in theory they should ride a tiny bit softer.

In one thread on here a few months ago a guy went from 18" to 16" and said he found the setup is a lot better.

Interestingly, my 18" wheels also come from a gent who had a change of heart and decided to go for 16".

I just found the ride too hard, so much so getting one with 18" wheels was a dealbreaker for me. Admittedly they do look good. I ended up with 17" wheels which I'm fine with (about 20% extra tirewall vs 18")

My previous car was a 2011 Skoda Fabia vRS with Eibach Springs & Koni adjustable dampers on 17” wheels. Suspension was rock hard & with our cratered roads in the UK bit of a nightmare keeping wheels unbuckled and tracking true!!
It was great I do miss at times the instant performance but engines were prone to go bang sooner or later!!
I thought it was a bit over stressed and it’s nice to have something more relaxing!!
