I may email fiat or ask the dealership about that then. By the way just to make sure I am guessing by AT9 that means a 9 speed auto.

Just making sure it case its a non uk model :D

Yep, 9 speed auto 2.0 Multijet 4x4, totally UK spec. It came with the Paddle Shifters fitted, seems like they've been discontinued along with a few other options

Just been on live chat with fiat:

No there are no paddle shifters as an option

I also asked if the remote start (from the key) was an option and they also said no can some (uk spec model) confirm that please as I kind of feel like the person who I spoke to on the live chat did not know what I was talking about.

they also where not sure what paddle shifters were so I may have to check up in person at the dealership to make 100% it isn't an option.

Remote Start is not a UK option as it breaches UK Law

ahhhh, i see, was looking for the box on marmalade. Black's not a colour i'd choose but young uns go mad for it.

£25k eeeeek, almost double what I paid for a 2l AT9 4*4.

If you are spec sensitive maybe look here:

https://www.cars2buy.co.uk/new-cars...ssion=0&fTrim=0&fBodytype=0&fDoors=0&fCarID=0

here you go :D https://www.fiat.co.uk/fiat-500x/fiat-500x-cross-configurator/#/version

Top left corner just above the price where it says insert your fiat code. I just checked the code again and it does work so once you copy n paste the code in a black 500x priced at £25,225 should pop up.

wow learn something new everyday I didn't know that it was illegal to have remote start in the uk although at the same time it does make sense to me.

25k maybe be eeeek but I intend on keeping it for a good 10 to 15 years and so wanted a new almost 0 mile car with all the bells and whistles on it. not only that I been a long time to drive and so really go ahead and treat myself.

it works out at £400 a mouth then at the end I pay off the last 6k in order to keep the car. so mouthy its not bad at all although up front yes 25k is a lot.

here's the way I am looking at it the car I did want was an Audi A1 by the time I spec that all out it was the same price as the 500X the reason why I picked the X over the A1 is because I prefer fiat tech and extras and also like SUV type cars that are high off the ground and have a beefy presents on the road.

the X wins over the A1 anyway both tech wise and also appearance on the road wise.

It's illegal on the road but not on a private drive, so not fitted

If it's a PLP beware any excess mileage charges, or early settlement/cancellation clauses

Excess mileage chargers are only charged if you try to give the car back at the end of the 48 mouths like I said I wanna keep mine for a good 10 to 15 years :)

settlement cancellation clauses I will check but have no intention on cancellation and at the moment not in a position to settle it early the £400 a mouth sits comfortably on my budget.

I'm a fiat fan, we all are on here but imho £400 a month for that car is just way over the top. I reckon with the price i paid the equivalent cost will be circa £120/ month over 5 years.

I know insurance is an issue for you so that makes the market smaller but for £325 you can get a range rover velar on a 4 years lease.

well do you think I would be better off with a top of the range 500 lounge the actual cost of the x per mouth is £462.22 for the top of the range 500 with all the bells and whistles on it its £325.66.

Also I spoken to more people I know about getting the X and they all still say that I shouldn't have a big car as my very first car so I am starting to think for now at least I may be better with the 500.

I did have a go and driving my friends 500 today and we tired getting 4 people in turns out with the seat in the position I need it to be for me to drive (nearly all the way back but not quite) you can still fit a person (around 6ft tall behind me)

Though and opinions please.

Personally I would follow the advice of others and seek out an Almost New 500X. Much cheaper on the wallet, balance of warranty transferable and, IMHO, a better car than the 500, and I would never describe it as BIG car

I've owned both a 500 diesel and now a 500x diesel, obviously quite different cars. While the 500 had its flaws it was characterful and before I bought ours I hired a 500 1.2 for a few days, the engine suits the car well.

With your age which I presume is sub 20, insurance is a significant cost.

I could go into detail about the pro's and con's of allsorts now but havent got time. In your position what I would do is:
1) Go for a car with cheap insurance.
2) Buy almost new. (new may be miles rather than age).
3) Try and get this cheap.
4) Try and save a bit prior to purchase and then go to a lender and get a 12 month loan, this will make your interest a lot less than 3-4 year loans....and balloon payments.

In 12 months if you buy a car at 6k-8k car you can have the whole thing paid off (if you have a bit saved and can stretch to £350pm-£500pm) and have a car as an asset remaining.

Unlike the alternative which is a few more years of £300- £400 per month payments and then a big balloon payment at the end to buy the car. Do the maths and it adds an extra £15k?

That's my 2 penneth, but again I am about twice your age and see things more financially as a chartered accountant.

A further two penneth - if buying new, it could be worth getting a quote from a company like Carwow. Never used them, but they claim good savings.

You are very fortunate to have the opportunity to choose a first car at this level of monthly payment. However you have the money go for it, you don't need our permission. If you are hesitant due to cost then you can see that there are more affordable options. I don't think any car is too big for first time if you drive generally well.

thanks for all the advice everyone I will take everything said into account however it looks as if even if it isn't a brand new one I will be going with the X.

You lose a fortune the moment you drive a brand new car out of the showroom. You shouldn't have any problem locating a 6-9 month old, low mileage, 500X at a really competitive price, even from a main dealer. You may have to compromise on colour or options but you should easily find one you like
