Hi - This is all new to me.

Have a new Fiat500X Love it.

But notice that while driving the interior lights dim and then become bright again.

Is there a reason? or do you reckon it's a loose fuse or something?

Any help would be appreciated. Before I go back to the dealer.

Thanks
Deb

I noticed that mine is affected by stop start. So driving when it's dark with headlights on I have the interior/dash lights dimmed slightly. But when stop/start kicks in say at traffic lights, the interior lights brighten (just as they do when you turn the headlights off) and dim again when the engine fires up.

Deb, I believe that there is an ambient light detector which changes the interior illumination depending on the amount of light coming into the car. This is most noticeable when using the lights during poor daytime visibility - if driving from thick fog into sunshine the interior lighting will brighten, for instance.
I don't think the interior lighting level should change when it is properly dark outside.
I've said all this without consulting the handbook, but the 500 that I had before the 500X used to behave the same.

That was my first thought, but the lights in my car don't seem to follow that logic, they just dim and brighten randomly under the same light condition. Fortunately, it happens very rarely.

Also, I noticed that if the ignition is off and the radio is left on, the screen becomes super-bright.

When the brightness of the instruments etc. changes, does it happen when it is properly dark outside? If so, I've never had that happen. Mine only changes if I use the lights in poor conditions in daylight.

Sorry, I remembered that incorrectly. It happens when turning off the headlights, not ignition.

As I found out, this behavior is controlled from the settings and can be disabled. I've switched it to the manual and assigned the same values in both cases. I suggest you try the same, as it may eliminate the dimming and brightening issue by simply turning off the automatic mode entirely.
