Does anyone use these?

When I was browsing through the menus the other day I noticed an option for "interior lights" which I'd never seen before so I turned it up... Random light up top in the centre, one in front of the gearbox and a nice highlight around the cup holders...

Other than the one around around the cupholder which gives quite a nice effect, they otherwise seem pointless, so what is the point and does anyone use them?

They are very helpful to me, because at night I can see all the items in those deep door pockets. I can also see the exact amount of coins I have dumped on the centre console. Very helpful.

Interestingly, I can't see the light around the cup holders, because my Lounge 500X car has the middle arm rest, which extends over the cup holders.

Yes, but you can slide the armrest back. I too find them useful, they help you find things without being bright enough to impair night vision. I didn't discover the door bin lights until recently when I was a passenger.

Adds a bit of class in my view - I like the puddle lights on the bottom of the doors.

Can yoy tell me where you found the menu called "interior lights"? I can't find it.

Thanks guys.

I saw the replies then looked about 2 hours ago. Couldn't find it. Then I saw TrevC's reply and looked again, still cant find it.

I press the 2 cogs above the top right of the screen, that takes me into the settings menu. In the lights submenu, I have 4 options as follows.

Headlight off delay
Courtesy Lights
Cornering Lights
Flash Lights w/lock.

There are no more scrollable up/ down options like in some menu's, it's just those 4.

My car is a 2l AT9 cross 4*4 with safety and comfort packs, 5" non nav. Even though I bought it from a supermarket last August it has been registered in Dec 2016 to a Fiat dealer, and I believe may be 2015 MY, made sometime late 2015/ early 2016. I wonder if the function wasn't activated on older cars?

The cupholders are the things that I wonder about, there are lights very close illuminating the mood selector, and around the cupholders maybe 5mm down from the surface there does feel to be a change of material which could be a strip for lights to shine through. Just no idea where the submenu is!

I have a 2015 2l AT9 4x4 Cross Plus. Some menu items are only active with the ignition on, and I have Ambient Lighting but no idea what pack it comes with

That's a very useful link to the brochure that covers my 2015 Lounge, which I hadn't seen before. All the listed features seem correct, with one exception. It states that mine has a space saver spare wheel, which it does, but it also states that it has a height adjustable load platform, which it doesn't. In fact, I don't think it's possible to have both.
No matter, it's an interesting read.

I've got both Trev, but I would have to take out the space saver spare and the polystyrene storage to lower the boot floor. It is hypothetically possible though.

I'd not seen that brochure before either so thanks for that - and I've certainly not seen 3D imagery like that on my Sat Nav!

Ignition key slot? wow, in this day and age, there are cars with regular keys? who knew... ;)

never seen a 500x with a regular key, I thought they all use a start button.

take a look at the new Range Rover Velar... comes with a bracelet to unlock the car, so you can leave your keys hidden inside. The bracelet is waterproof so you can go swimming or other similar activity.

which american car has the key pad on the door pillar? that is also a cool feature.
