Since the arrival of the very cold icy mornings I have noticed the heated rear window is not operating on start up. Whilst the car remains stationary the front demist seems to warm up and get to work very quickly but the rear does not kick in until I drive away. Although I have no problems starting I wonder if it could it be a battery problem? Any ideas would be very welcome. Thanks in advance.

Battery or alternator possible. Many a sensible system would deactivate energy hogging devices if there's not enough charge to keep them running.

I have the same problem, takes ages to heat up and even longer to get rid of the ice/condensation on the inside of the rear window.

Is it just the hybrid nature of the 4x4 Cross Plus or don't any 500Xs come with heated mirrors? When various new gizmos come onto the market you'd think from that point on, all cars would be fitted with that bright idea:idea: and the brains in the R+D Dept would be off developing the Next Big Thing that at first is only put on the GTX of the brand before filtering down the lower badgings.

How then do I buy a car I'd think is pretty high up the spec listing and it has no heated front screen (almost standard on the mid-range Minis) no heated mirrors (standard on my Qubo), no fold-in mirrors, no LEDs in the lighting dept inside or out (except maybe the hi-level brake light) and no things like warnings for low screen wash level but a hyper-active tyre pressure warning, ridiculous fog lights that come one when you're turning a corner (what the heck is all THAT about!!!) and multiple menus half of which you look at once and then never see again, a useless Satnav that says "PLEASE" until you go mad and wholly unreasonable mpg claims?

I do like the car a lot but somethings just don't add up...

Has anyone found wiring in the loom for hot mirrors or the motors to fold them in? Any other discoveries I should look for? Heated seat wiring?

I have heated mirrors on my pop star, they come on with the heated rear window. I do not have power fold mirrors but have you tried the button at the rear of the mirror adjustment control? That should fold the mirrors if you car is fitted with them.

Spec is odd, my Cross Plus doesn't have heated mirrors listed in the spec and no little symbol on the mirror glass, but when you put on the heated rear window mine definitely heat up.

My 500x has power folding mirrors, rain sensors, auto lights, interior LED cabin, storage bins also lit by LED, two USB ports, SD card, electric lumbar seat adjustment, Xenon head lights, lane assist, auto brake control radar, rear cross path detection, adaptive cruise control, speed limiter, blind spot assist and... others I don't remember about.

I know that ex-rentals have the barest necessities, so maybe your car is one of those?

The tyre pressure system is based on the ABS/ESP sensors (unlike the old ones that had a sensor with a battery inside each wheel). The system needs calibration on a level surface, at max tyre pressure, with good tyres, during normal driving conditions. If you calibrate it wrongly (for example tyre pressure is too low, your tyres are worn, etc) then eventually the system will kick in and produce a warning for no apparent reason. It is a much better and reliable system than the old one, that required a visit to the garage to remove the sensors from the wheels.

the fog lights are not ridiculous at all, the system is called "cornering lights" and they are a massive help when taking corners on rural areas at night, because they help you see (slightly) sideways, usually towards the direction you are about to turn.

The mpg claims depend on your driving style. I use my 500x for moving my family around, which means I drive like "old people" do, so my mpg is quite impressive, currently at 51mpg (1.6 diesel engine), with 47mpg being the worst I've seen so far.

My complains are different:

1) the suspension and the 18" wheels are horrible for my taste, I would prefer something A LOT softer. The ride is quite bouncy.

2) the uconnect 6.5" is garbage, compared to any mid-range smartphone. I paid around £800 for that optional extra and regret every wasted penny...

Eventually I will solve the first problem, I am currently looking at an adjustable KW suspension.

Hear hear, I live in a suburban area with not nearly enough light posts and I'm very grateful for that feature, especially in wintertime when it's already dark at 4 PM.
