Just reached 27k service, car is in today at main dealer. Having rattle from exhaust and TPMS checked out under warranty. Tyre warning going off at random so will be interesting to see if they can fix it?.

My TPMS does that too, even after checking tyre pressures and a reset. Let us know [emoji106][emoji106]

Picked car up after 27k service which cost £57. Told there was a fault logged in the computer for the TPMS but could not find a physical fault. They recalibrated the TPSM Unit.Rest of car checked out ok. Got another 12 months free roadside assistance . Next service it will be due it’s 1st Mot... time flies in a Fiat![emoji634][emoji106]

Yes another one with TPMS random warnings with seemingly no pressure issues? Let us know if they found anything please (y)

£57? Have we suddenly gone back to the '80s? Even for a quick-walk-around-and-kick-the-tyres 9k inspection service, that's cheap. My local stealer wants over £100 just to kick the tyres on my Panda.

Thing is it is only checks ...nothing is replaced. The 1.4 petrol turbo is due services every 9000 miles. 1st one is checks then 2nd is big one £350! 3rd one checks again £57 and so on. When I first bought the car I thought services were every 18000 miles....If I had known I’d have got the service package.

Just checked the service schedule - because I only cover about 6000 miles per year, I get an oil and filter change every time. Will cost more, but I don't mind - the oil is very important in a multiair engine.

Same here. Only just covered 12K miles in two years. At first service I went for Oil & Filter Change. At second was the full Monty including Brake & Clutch Fluid.

Mine will be due the Full Monty in January. Can you remember how much yours cost, if you don't mind me asking? I'm expecting to pay £300-£400.

Official dealer price (well my dealer) is around approx. £350 inc VAT (including brake fluid change).

Eventually paid £285 which included a 15% labour and 9% parts discount.

If you have a MyFiat card you should be able to get a straight 10% discount if I remember correctly.

A point to note is that Fiat dealerships can be quite competitive for your business. What you have to weigh against this is your feeling/knowledge/trust of the dealership.

Nothing unique to Fiat and common to many brand dealerships there are some real monkeys on piece/job bonus rates out there where the more they do (i.e. beat the scheduled times) the more they get paid. Meanwhile you pay for the full time.

HOWEVER - often decent dealers/garage will charge less than the official time the manufacturer quotes to your advantage. e.g. A Fiat Coupe/Marea 20V cam belt change and full service is officially around the 20Hour mark. However many decent mechanics/dealers know how to safely do this job without removing the engine.

Well so much for the TPMS reset, drove over a speed hump today and warning went off!

£350 is about what the equivalent service on my wife's Suzuki cost. You did well on the discounts, I'll shop around when the time comes. I'm not inclined to use the supplying dealer as they were poor with a couple of after-sale issues I had. There are a couple of others within 20 miles so I'll see what they do with regard to price, courtesy car etc.
Regarding TPMS false alarms, I haven't had any with the 500X in the 8 months I've had it, but the Mini I had used to do it occassionally. Accidental wheelspin in the wet would set it off, but I don't remember it reacting to a speed hump.

None of us will be likely to replace the timing belt just yet, but I was just looking at the owner's manual, and it says every 5 years and as little as 60,000km in cities and 'dusty areas'.

Anyone know how much effort they take on the 1.4MA engines?

The 1.4 MA cambelt is a simple one as cambelts go. Just about to have ours changed on our Delta 3 and its about £250 all in including the Water Pump from my mates Italian Indy......

Shop4parts list the full timing belt kit (including waterpump) for £64 plus VAT, so if it's a reasonably straightforward job it shouldn't be too expensive.
