General Transmission problems

I have had a response from Fiat which even if you don't have a 500X like mine tells you something about Fiat. It seems to me if they can find another car with the same problem as yours then it is normal for that car so they won't fix it. They tried at least 7 times to fix mine, successfully on one occasion albeit for a couple of hundred miles, but now they can't fix it they say it's normal. What a disgrace! Re: Fiat 500X S1XBG

Dear Mr Gooch,

Thank you for the time you have spent with me on the phone over recent days, during which you have fully explained the noise issue you have with your car.

As you know your car was inspected by one of our Field Engineer’s yesterday. During the road test with our Engineer, you demonstrated your concern to him. The noise could only be replicated with the throttle being applied in a fast application after an over run / throttle off situation. Our Engineer did not find the noise to be obtrusive. The Engineer, prior to testing your car again, had tested two other 500X’s which were the same as yours. The noise was present on both these vehicles; I understand you were shown a video of one of the vehicle’s that was tested.

The findings of the inspection, therefore, is that the noise is consistent with the car and that there is no manufacturing defect. There are no modifications that can be carried out to the vehicle so that it meets your expectation. The vehicle performs as it should.

Having spoken with you, I release this will be a disappointment to you. However, as gesture of goodwill, I would like to offer you £150 towards the fuel costs you have incurred whilst taking your car to Platts and Perrys, over recent weeks. If you would like to accept this offer, please provide me with details of your bank account, to include the account and sort code number and the name of the bank. I can then arrange for a telegraphic payment to be made.

I recall we mentioned the Motor Ombudsman during our most recent telephone call. You may wish to refer your case to them and make use of the Alternative Dispute Resolution service. You can register your complaint online at:
