OK, questions...

I have created a play list on an SD card, and categorized the tracks into individual folders on the SD Card either by Genre or by Album.

Question 1: The Media system displays and plays all tracks in an Alphabetical Order, how can I get the Media system to display and play them in the case of Albums in Track Order as downloaded onto the SD?

Question 2: When using Shuffle on the Media system with the SD Card, I was kind of expecting it to shuffle within the individual Folder I was in but instead it shuffles across all the tracks on the SD card. How can I make it shuffle just in the SD Folder that I am in?

What format are the tracks in? I always thought that MP3 files would display in track order, but I'm no expert. I just leave mine set tonShuffle permanently and don't care what order they come up in, but I've never had it shuffle just one album, so I assume it's not possible. The manual is woefully inadequate in most things uConnect except for the Settings menu

I'm not sure if this is the answer to your question or not, but it might help if you haven't already seen it

Thanks for the Link, doesn't really help though, I have easily created my play lists and folders on the SD Card and they are shown as such on the Nav Screen when I hit the Browse button.

The issue is with UConnect displaying and playing them in Alphabetical order when each track is numbered.

And the shuffle function... to get around this at present I would have to have numerous SD cards with just one album on each, which would be a lot of SD cards floating around in the car...

Have my sd card formatted and downloaded tracks through Music Bee, each artist and album has it's own folder and they are all stored in a headline 'music' folder.

Can play single album or artist or everything. Have some issues with certain albums that are protected; but not many.

My main music library o my PC is iTunes and the free Music Bee software is a a freebie download that syncs with iTunes including playlists etc.

Also used Freemake Audio in the past which was pretty good.

I can do all that with my SD Card, my gripe is that UConnect plays the album tracks in Alphabetical order not Album track order as they are stored on the SD Card.

Also Shuffle function shuffles across all tracks on the SD card not within one album

Nope, mine will shuffle a single album or if I just pick an album it plays it in album order.

If I go into the music folder or artist using 'list' it plays alphabetically but not otherwise.

That sounds like it's how I need mine to work...

Can you go through again how you managed to achieve that?

I ripped my tracks from the CD's with Windows Media or bought them off Amazon and then saved them from their respective files on my laptop onto my SD Card, as I said on the SD card on my laptop the tracks are all in their own folders and in Order but UConnect shuffles across the whole SD card and plays the album tracks in Alphabetical order.

All my music is saved on my PC in iTunes.

I sync iTunes with Music Bee and just paste my playlists straight to the USB from Music Bee.

You can just copy from iTunes but the indexing goes a bit squiffy. If I use music bee and a destination folder on the USB the indexing seems better.

My tracks are Apple Lossless.

The shuffle option on UConnect is a bit odd. I find that although shuffled it always seems to use the same random order and can insist on starting over from the first track on occasion.

I took your advice and reformatted some of my tracks on my SD card to a Lossless file format as opposed to a MP3 format, and yes it does work as your mentioned, the tracks were played in track order not alphabetical order...

But....

The Lossless file size is about 1000% greater than the MP3 file size, an MP3 track that was 6MB was now 56MB in Lossless format, which of course means that I am only going to be able to store a fraction of the number of tracks on my SD card..

So have decided that I can live with the MP3 files and have them played in Alphabetical order and have no shuffle option..

Thank you anyway for the option and advice..

I don't understand why you have no Shuffle option. I have >2,500 MP3 files on a USB stick and Shuffle is all I ever use

Alan,

I have the shuffle option and it works, but I wanted it to shuffle within the Folder that the track it was playing was in..

For example I have a Folder with Dance music in, one for Folk music, one for Punk...etc.. and I wanted to shuffle within the folder I was in..

If im feeling in a Dance mood, I don't suddenly want to have a somber Dylan track come on ..lol

Robotboy showed me a way to store the folders and tracks in a different format so that the folder tracks were played in track order not alphabetical order and for the shuffle to work within the folder not across the entire SD card, however as per my post the file type required is very memory hungry so would limit my playlists...

I've never bothered Shuffling within an album, I might give it a go and see what happens [emoji23][emoji23]

Let me know what happens, but I suspect that if you have your tracks saved as MP3 files then the shuffle will simply shuffle all the tracks on the SD Card regardless of what album they are in..

I may be able to resolve part of your problem

I selected an album/folder, hit Shuffle and lo and behold the second track was from a different album/artist entirely. Give up on that one.

However, if you want to play your music in track order rather than alphabetical I think I have the answer, although it is a pain.

Album by album, edit the Track Titles and include a 1, 2, 3 etc as the very first character of the track title and they should be played within the selected folder in numerical order. This only works of course if you have a separate folder for each album.

Good luck
