I was wondering if anyone could help with this situation im having..

I bought a new 2016 500X with 92 miles on it..

if your familiar with the gauges on the dash theres one called "best Fuel", when I got the vehicle the gauge was working, after about a day I went and filled up the tank and reset the gauge, since then it wont work.. it just shows dashes in the space for the numbers. I took it to the dealer, this is the second time, now they've had it for about a week and they cant figure out whats causing the issue.

second, the UCONNECT does not connect to any mobile device, iphone or android, the dealer tried it out and they cant get it to work either and now their replacing the console... because the app is saying the vehicle is not sending out a signal...

Im very concerned about the gauge though because Im thinking its an early sign of a manufacturer defect that could be a sensor, wiring or software, and Im even more worried that the dealer doesent know whats causing the issue.

any help here?

Hi. Look in the 500 x section. As it is quite different to the little 3 door 500

Ok there are two things here:

The 500X has standard Trip A and Trip B mileage and MPG measurements as well as instantaneous consumption. You need to check that these are working and show sensible numbers. These are fed/triggered by all the vehicles fuel metering and mileage sensors.

The Econometer (or what ever it is currently called) is just a fancy console app that is built in to the central display that gives you radio, nav, phone & other stuff.

Personally I don't give any credence etc. to that on my 500X but I also recognise that:

a) it is supplied and marketed by Fiat (personally in my view just marketing and not a critical or reliable vehicle function) but it should work

b) this is a Fiat Dealer / Fiat UK situation to resolve

Bottom line - if the standard trip data as mentioned above is working then there is no sensor issue and you are looking at an AUXILARY issue with the central Connect Unit and it's software.

I was under the impression that best fuel only recorded when the mode selector was set to auto, so if it's in economy or sport it will not record this data.

Yes, absolutely correct. The Econometer (must look up Fiat's real term) is only running on the 500X when in Auto mode.

I my opinion a bit of a gimmick. The *near* real measurement is the trip computer. The real measurement is done BY YOU by recording mileages and full fuel fill-ups on a regular and regimented process.

So when you arrive at the fuel station:

1) Record mileage and date and litres (no if this was a tank full or partial fill)
2) Note vehicles recorded MPG (on Trip A)
3) Reset trip A
4) Log/make your own calculations on actual mileage and actual fuel used

It does not matter if you did a brim to brim fuel fill. What is important is that partial fills are logged so that between brim to brim fills and mileage logs you can and will get a true MPG.

To this end I have since 1974 kept a log book for all my vehicles where I record date, mileage, fuel added, (price), and a TF (tank full) or NF (not full).

Dead easy to do, takes little/no effort and even if you only record litres add over 10K, 50K,100K miles you will have a figure far more accurate than the vehicles fuel metering unit. The longer the run the more accurate the data will be.
