500x is here, I'm looking at increasing the boot space. It looks like the boot floor should be adjustable but it's just the wheel underneath . Is this the case on all models? I'm tempted to take it out (the Mrs would never change it anyway if she had a puncture) to free up space.

You can definitely remove it. You can also use some DIY materials to make your own "floor" to cover the ugly bare metal of the chassis.

I'd be interested to see how much space you recover... I've been thinking of doing the same thing.

Yes you can remove the wheel. I think also the existing cover will happily become your new base floor when placed in below the upper support brackets.

I went a different route. I need a rubber spare as I tow. I also carry a full set of tools, diagnostic kit, modicum of emergency (get me out of here) spares/things. If you remove the polystyrene under floor filler then this opens up a much bigger storage area. I just emptied my tool box and put all the tools into several tools roll pouches etc. Also put slim height hobby storage boxes on top of the spare wheel as there is 3 inch+ gap between the wheel and the floor divider.

Suggest you experiment before finalising your decision unless you just want big square box, luggage case space etc.

Just flicking through the manual and the floor is supposed to be "modular" so I presume it's the cross models that come with this spare wheel and maybe not the city cars?

Mine is a city model and comes with a spare wheel.

It also has some storage thingies made of foam, around the spare wheel, for storing items.

Yes mine is a city and has the spare wheel. I would prefer the lower boot floor and the sealant bottle like I had in my previous two Fiats. If I have a puncture I will be calling breakdown....I don't intend to change a wheel at the side of the road on a wobbly Jack

The options when drawing up the cars spec was either a full sized wheel or tyre sealant irrespective of which model. The vary height floor with fixings is standard on lounge and cross plus, optional on lower line models, but you can purchase the plastic lugs if you wish but theiy are £40 here in the uk!

When the spare wheel is removed the floor can be lowered all the way down if you don't have the optional lugs, with the lugs in place it leaves about 3 inches when floor set to lowest level to hide the tyre sealant.

Just taken my wheel out along with the jack and plastic tray. Much more room in the boot now, there is still enough room in the wheel well for the locking wheel nuts and a can of tyre sealant. Left original lugs on. Much better room for my dog.
