Hi guys,I have just ordered an 500X 1.4 170 cross plus AWD auto nine speed,in argento grey on motability scheme, dealer says it takes about 11 weeks for delivery,is this about right do you know, thanks.

If it's any help, my 500X 1.4 Popstar with DDCT gearbox took 13 weeks from order to delivery.

Thanks for that, what is the difference between the ddct gearbox and the 9 speed one,is the ddct semi automatic, and if so what do you think of it,hope you are enjoying your pop star!!

Picked mine up today, just a shade over 20 weeks from ordering, after having been promised a maximum of 12. Totally different spec though, if it matters - 1.4 Pop Star (manual).

Maybe they will have sorted their production out and you will be lucky... Fingers crossed.

Hi thanks for reply, how you enjoying your new pop star, is it all you expected after your long wait, bet it was worth it .

I'm very pleased with my car so far. It has lived up to my expectations with regard to quietness and smoothness, with most gearchanges of the DDCT box almost imperceptible. In fact the sales person who drove my car from the dealer's delivery compound to their showroom/servicing facility said she was impressed with the smoothness as it was the first 500X with DDCT that she had driven.
The DDCT gearbox is fully automatic and 6 speed. You can change gear manually using the gear lever (if the car accepts conditions are suitable) or with steering wheel paddles if you have specified the latter option.
While the FIAT website gives details of the DDCT option, I have yet to find a printed brochure which does so. When I ordered my car back in July the salesman telephoned FIAT HQ to confirm that such an option was available!

Yours will be petrol then I assume, what kind of mpg do you get in town driving ,as that is what I will be doing 99.9 percent of time when I get mine, thats why I chose the petrol version, also a brochure I had didn't even mention the 170bhp petrol muliti air,for some reason and the dealer I went to didn't think they done one ,strange !!

Yes, indeed, mine is petrol. I have the 140bhp Multiair. So far I've only done 130miles, I don't want to get it dirty yet !! A mixture of town and a 60 mile round trip and the car is telling me 40.1mpg.

What colour did you choose,i chose the argento grey ,40.1 mpg is not bad for the petrol, were the seats comfortable on the 60 mile trip can I ask, all my driving will be town, with the odd long trip now and again.

I went with the standard Passione Red as, although I quite liked some of the other colours including Argento Grey (Silver?), I didn't feel like paying another £500 just for a different colour. Yes, I find the seats comfortable.

Yes I seen the red very nice too, good choice, the yellow colour was£1000 which is astonishing, and be very difficult to sell later on I would think,i like to go for light colours as I think they are safer ,more easily seen on the road,if you know what I mean, must be an age thing LOL

I went for same red colour and have to say it looks really good in the sunshine....nice deep shine. I nearly got the grey one but the red just seemed to stand out . Really pleased with the car so far......

The DDCT is just another name for the dual-clutch transmission that Alfa have been using since around 2010 in both the mito and giulietta. Alfa call it TCT, however, which doesn't really matter as they're both commercial names. If you need to get an idea on how it works just search for Alfa TCT on youtube

The 9-speed automatic is a classic torque-converter automatic so the two are not the same.

I've only driven the TCT in an alfa but its really smooth overall. The only difference is that having a torque converter makes taking off from rest smoother than with a dry clutch.
