My 500L trecking has developed a boot problem. The dashboard tells me the boot is open and it is slightly loose but wont open on its own which is good since the dog is normally in there. Have sprayed with WD40 to no avail....does anyone have any ideas.

It could be a sticky latch that just didn't release fully.

Push the boot shut again (it should click shut) and then lock the car (assuming the boot is linked to the Central Locking) just to flush it.. and then unlock it again.

The latch mechanism has a rotating arm in it (the one that fits round the round bar on the latch stay).. it could be just greased/gummed up. Clean the pin to buggeration - remove all the dried on crud that you can... lubricate it with WD40, then stick some new grease on it. The key bit is the pin that the arm rotates around (which is usually inside the latch where you can't get to it or see it... but that's what needs the grease).
