Hello all!

So I appear to have a brick instead of a radio in our 2014 500L 1.3 multijet.

The screen is stuck on the Fiat logo, last station playing in the background etc...

As it doesn't fully boot up, the USB software update option isn't an option (I've tried... downloaded the patch, formatted the USB, loaded the unzipped files etc...)

So I have a few questions.

1) If i go onto Evilbay and purchase a like for like radio from a scrapper, cross my fingers and pray it's also not a brick, plug it in... will I;
A) need a code for said replacement radio and

B) need to pop down to Fiat for this wizzardy "Proxy Realignment" thingamy bob?

2) If I go down the aftermarket radio route, does anyone basically have a list of everything I need to buy (even down to the best radio make and model that works)? Would it also need on of these magical/mysterious pluggy in type blokes to do the mythical "Proxy Realignment" jiggery pokery?

I have read through the forums, one of the last I read was chap with a similar issue and did a like for like swap but didn't really answer my questions.

Thanks in advance!

I have read that the 500l head unit can develop an internal hard ware fault some thing like my sons old X Box. Our car has nav ect and would be something like £900 to replace, if it does fail I shall fist see if it can be fixed by a local electronics expert worth a try.

In case you are still looking.
If this is a VP2 unit I may be able to assist in repairing the unit.
I have just repaired one and it is now working perfectly.
PM me if I can help.
