Hi Guys,
Totally new to this but had my car in at a dealer 3 months after i bought it (car was MOT'd at that time)
I had it in for another problem with steering and was lower ball joints and what not but was advised they would change the timing chain at the same time. Its a 1.3 diesel multijet 2013 Reg
So the timing chain was done but ever since i got it back there has been an oil leak and upon inspection i have seen there are 3 stripped bolts in the sump with a ridiculous amount of sealer around them which is where the oil is leaking from.
Upon calling the dealer they advised they dont touch the sump for the the timing chain to be replaced. can someone please advise if you do need to expose the internals or remove the sump to complete the timing chain replacement
TIA

Timing chain swap on a 1.3 MJ is a sump-off job according to the Haynes manual, so I took the sump off.

...although some have claimed to manage without taking the sump off, the oil pickup is screwed to the timing chain cover, and it goes through a gap into the sump, so I can't see how it's done without some inventive bodgery, and even then, pretty sure there would be leaky joints.
