I have a 2014 500L Trekking. A couple of months ago, my check engine light came on. Took it to my mechanic, who said that it referred to the antiknock sensor, and it was only 1 instance. He reset it and advised I continued to drive and see what happened. After a week or so it came back on. I drove continued to drive it for 3 or 4 weeks and then took it back because it is due for a safety inspection. The code was the same, and again, only one instance of it being triggered. Has anyone experienced this?

Petrol engine?
It is not a diesel. Quick update. Took it to a shop that said it was the knock sensor and/or harness. Replaced both. CEL went off. Drove a view miles, and CEL came back on. Took it back to shop, they did diagnostics and said in effect, "Don't call us, we'll call you." Ran a tank of premium through it, then disconnected battery cable to reset CEL. Have driven a few miles and good so far. Hope to get my inspection sticker in the next couple of days. Premium fuel may be the solution but I have to wonder why I have been able to drive it 5+ years and 46K+ miles on regular.
