So please clarify..

Why did the AA become involved with your FIAT..

What underlying fault was detected..and who fixed it.

All these people discussing dual clutches and Ombudsment has lost me..

problem was fixed but had to flush system of contaminants.
Well over 100,000 miles of trouble free motoring apart from AA incompetence.

As in my original post the car was on my drive and would not select gear.
Called out AA and that is when the real trouble started. needed small amount of Hydraulic fluid not gearbox oil which the AA man proceeded to put in hydraulic fluid reservoir and so contaminated.
SCC in Swindon dismantled reservoir and high pressure chamber and flushed out contaminants. to be on the safe side they replaced chamber and since then all has been perfect. Hundreds of pounds out of pocket, contacted the Ombudsman but case still on-going and delayed due to Covid-19. Would love to post my bad experience on AA Facebook page but don't have an account as not into all that stuff?

car was sorted by my local garage though AA after much denial eventually admitted fault and offered only an insulting £50. I got the Ombudsman involved but after many months (Covid not helped) they said there was nothing they could do.
I shall never re-join AA again and would advise all to avoid them like the plague lest something similar happen because you will be left out of pocket and with no help even though it was their fault.

Problem involved filling the dualogic control system reservoir with gearbox oil instead of the required hydraulic fluid. The dual-clutch won't have this reservoir.

Would be nice to know though, a) is it fixed, and b) have the AA paid up as they should. The AA breakdown service is supposed to rescue from a breakdown, not make it worse.
fixed but AA didn't pay up, never go with them again!
