Okay, I have a 2014 500L Easy and it keeps blowing the heater fan control resistor. I replaced it yesterday and it's already blown. It isn't a hard fix and only about $20 for the part but I don't want to keep wasting time and money. Anyone have an idea about where to start looking for the cause?

Thanks

Likely cause of a hot resistor is a seizing fan motor. On most cars these can be popped out fairly easily. It may have a screw or two securing it, then needs to be turned, possibly clockwise to release.

Lubricating the bearings may bring a temporary fix, but probably will need replacement. Use the labels to find a replacement on Ebay.

I've heard from members of my FB 500L forum that the wiring to can motor, AND/OR the wires on the main motor can short between wires and blow fuse. Yet motor itself could check good. But measuring through wiring can appear that fan motor is shorted. I suspect that running fan on highest speed for long periods can cause this to happen. Possibly due to, too light a guage of wire to support highest fan speed for long periods.
