Hi everyone, have a 500L Trekking 2014 which we love,air con pump was changed on warranty 2017 after no cool air would come through, worked for a while but we didn’t really use it a lot due to weather conditions where we live, yes I know you should consider having it on all the time!!! Now it’s broken again, mechanic says it’s seized through underuse which seems odd? Anybody have any or hear any similar problems, as no one fixes anything anymore garage is just quoting a straight replacement. Cheers.

Nobody's fixes things because if they can be fixed it often costs more then a replacement part
And when you get to things like Aircon pumps they are sealed and you can't buy parts for them
Modern air con pumps are generally non serviceable.
When it was replaced last time the replacement would have had a little oil from the factory, but if they did not put the right amount of oil in when they regassed the system, it’s possible the pump ran dry and it seized, that said if it’s not used then 2 years is a very short space of time to seize up even if not used and on such a new car.
It’s easy to tell if the pump has seized as you can easily turn the pump by hand with the engine off.
If you can turn it by hand then it’s possible the gas has just leaked out again through not being used.
