Clutch master cylinder fluid pipe

Hi all I have a 2015 fiat 500 which developed a fluid leak on the clutch side I took battery out and battery tray out to reveal the clutch slave cylinder it looked slightly damp o bought slave cylinder it came with the pipe. O trid to disconnect it from the quick release coupling at the passenger side arch no go absolutely solid o I took new pipe out of new slave cylinder and put old one in there worked a treat until today clutch fade pedal right to the floor turns out it's the coupling that's leaking. My question is I have a brand new pipe that comes from the clutch slave with one part of the coupling there is there anywhere I can purchase the other pipe coming from the clutch master down to join my coupling without buying the whole lot please. Thx scot

Re: Clutch master cylinder fluid pipe

Unfortunately not the pipes don't come separate from the cylinders
You may be able to get some sort of alternative fitting to fit to Both sides of the the pipes but can't advise what's

Re: Clutch master cylinder fluid pipe

Hi Iíve recently had this problem where the quick release was stuck together an wouldnít come apart, I changed the quick release for a hydraulic hose fitting adding 5 pieces together to get the length right to fit perfectly as the quick release did.6mm I think not to sure. Then bled the clutch threw slave cylinder and so far so good. A lot cheaper than replacing both ends of the quick release meaning slave\master cylinder £400. It might be worth adding I removed both ends of the pipe master/slave cylinder with removing the serclip at each end and removed hoses from the car. Then took it along to my local hydraulic hose outlet who when I explained the length I needed it to be, replaced it for a straight connector adding 5 pieces together to make up the length to the same length as the quick release Iíd cut out.

Did you photograph it? Sounds interesting.

And does that mean you got rid of the slave cylinder (??) or do you mean you dumped the old one (so as not to have to separate it) but fitted a new one?

I'm guessing he cut the quick connector of both sides of the line and fitted a different fitting on to it

Re: Clutch master cylinder fluid pipe

Hi chris yeah thatís pretty much it. I had a leak from the quick release with no problems with slave/master cylinder but read this connector was a big problem so thought Iíd see if it would work. The only thing I changed was the leaky connector sorry Ralph I didnít take pics but I will explain best I can what I did an try an take a pic of the new connector fitted on the car but as long as itís the same length as the piece you cut out I would think it would work.
1. I cut out the quick release round block at each end (behind passenger wheel)
2. Removed sirclips holding both ends of pipe into master/slave cylinder.
3. Unclip all plastic clamps holding pipes to the body of the car
4. Remove pipe completely
5. Took it to local hydraulic an had them make up the extension the length of the block.( he did say they use this part for hydraulics on bin refuse trucks) if that helps.
6. Re installed it bled the system.

I will take a pic of the connector tomorrow and upload it for you to see, the next challenge I take il think on and take pictures my apologies I know how it is when thereís no pics to make it clearer 🤦🏻*♂️

Re: Clutch master cylinder fluid pipe

Oh an I may add next time the slave/master cylinder goes I know the connector want fit but if you remove the sirclip that holds the pipe into either slave/master cylinder and do the same on the new part, you can just fit new part straight onto the end of the existing pipe work. Sounds like real quick release to me 😂😂
