Hi, I know this has been posted before but no-one seems to answer the question on how to resolve the issue.

My girlfriend bought a Fiat 500 from the auctions. Everything was working perfect then, one day the stereo went off and told us to enter the code. We looked through all the paper work and there was no code card.... Im only writing this before someone starts accusing us of stealing a stereo.

Anyway, we looked on various forums etc and seen codes that people had tred... Obviously too many times and now its locked!!! We rang the Fiat garage who wanted extortionate amounts to resolve this issue... F*king Tw@Ts!!!!!

Anyway, we found a a site where you pay £9.99 for the code. I bought the two wire things, after struggling like an idiot finally got the radio out, put the serial number on the site and recieved the code.....

Which brings me to my question????

How on earth do I get the radio to the enter code mode???

I have read things saying you have to leave the car running or engine switched on for 2 hours... Surely this cant be real!!! I live in Salford, the car would last 2 minutes with the key left in.... Is there a number or something I can do to get it to "Enter Code" mode.

please heeeeeeeeeelp, its driving me insane!!!!

Les

You need to leave the radio and ignition switched on continuously until the WAIT message clears.

Depending on how many wrong codes you've tried, the waiting time could be up to 24 hours.

HI GUYS, THANKS FOR THE ADVICE.

I WOULD ASSUME MY GF HAS TRIED IT RIDICULOUS AMMOUNTS OF TIMES BUT WOULD SAY SHES DONE IT 3 TIME!! :bang:

Oh jut realised cap lock, sorry.

Ok, driving the car for 24 hours is not an option so, what ive tried is t take the radio out. I have connected to a 12v power supply. I conected - to pin 8 on A and + to pin 4 on A.
The light comes on saying "radio blocked/wait", but goes off after around 10 minutes until I press the power button again. I have had ths plugged in for over 24 hours but it is still saying "radio blocked/wait".

Ok, will this work to burn away the hours???
Secondly, am i plugged into the right pins on the back??
Thirdly, is there another solution that doesnt require my GF sitting in the car or driving it for over 24 hours.... Shes driving me bloody mad!!!

thanks
Les

Assuming the 500L uses the standard ISO radio power connector, then connect the negative 0v lead from your power supply to pin 8 of the connector.

Connect the positive 12v lead from your power supply to pin 4 (permanent supply) and pin 7 (ignition supply).

When the WAIT message clears, enter the correct code.

When you reconnect the radio to the car and switch the ignition on, you will need to enter the code again. After this, the code should be stored in the car's Body Computer.

Hi Davren, im currently trying that with 2 + connected to 4 and 7.

The screen still goes off after 10 minutes or so. Do I need to make sure the screen stays on by jamming a button or something??

The radio is the standard Blauplunkt cream model with cd player in it. Its an 09 Fiat 500.

For some reason I have the feeling that the screen needs to stay o like it would do if you was in the car driving????

I'll let you know what happens. Its been on around 10 hours now and still no change.

Surely Fiat should do someting about this. If the car is registered to you and you supply the serial number ect tro prove its not stolen, they should just be able to remedy without taking the p*ss with csts!!

Thanks
Les

Hi Davren, no it still didnt work. Ive had the radio plugged in for over 30 hours now and still says "radio blocked / wait".
I know I have the correct pins as I have a spare connected frm an old radio and can connect the wires properly, and it lights up. I just dont think pin 7 is connected to the ignition on this one as it doesnt stay on????

Anyone any other ideas. Maybe theres another pin that I can connect to. Please let me know if there is.

Thanks
Les

Apparently this wont work connecting it as it is a can d or cam d radio, which requires a signal from the car. So, connection to a 12v power supply wont work.

Does anyon lse know of a solution because my GF just cannot keep the keys in the ignition for 24 hours for this to clear. There has to be a way to do this. I find it incredibly hard to fd that someone does not know the answer to resolve this problem and Fiat need to sort their stuff out to be able to help genuine inoccent customrs without trying to rip them off!!

Please help if you know or know anyone that can do it relitively cheap in the Manchester area.

Thanks
Les

Hi all, digging this post from the dead. Same happened to me. Don't feel safe leaving key "on" (eg all systems working) for a complete night (or who knows more) depending how many time a wrong code had been entered. Even if battery charge is maintained by means of a charger I think it might struggle the poor electrical system, as ignition is on, coils are on, fuel pump is on an everything is on. But this **** radio is so "clever" it relies on a ECU to keep it awake. Have tried everythign with the radio out of the car but switches off automatically after 10-15 minutes. Any way to keep radio on out of the car for a long period of time in order to get the famous "enter code"?
Best regards
