Hi everyone. Hoping someone can help before I set fire to my car or take a sledge hammer to it. Just before Christmas the engine management light came on.had aa out who said it was a faulty map sensor. Hubby being pretty good with cars changed it and it was fine for about two months being driven daily. I've been off work for two months so the car hasn't been used as often. Two weeks ago engines light came on again. Called the aa again and this time it was three new different codes.p2563, 0238,0096
Now it did start going off after 3 cycles but I think now it's on permanent. It only ever came on from cold.
I have noticed theres not start stop battery on car but never had problem starting it.

Anyone got any ideas.??.

Multiple non directly associated errors is normally an indication of poor battery power and/or main battery and chassis connections.

You said the car has not been used that often for the last couple of months which will also mean that the battery has/is being drained and not probably getting a decent full charge. Add in cold weather and things are looking to tally together. The start/stop battery (or lack there of) may be an issue if you can not turn start/stop off. Start/stop ideally requires a battery with better performance but many people do run with normal batteries and have no issues UNTIL the battery gets a lot older is performing less well and temperatures drop.

Get hubby to check the battery, battery cable connections and the battery -ve to chassis connection.

Both the missing signals come from the MAP sensor. I suspect that the connector on the MAP sensor has come loose. Alternatively the new sensor has failed. This is not unknown, Check connector and if OK order a new MAP sensor and fit it.

Thanks for the reply! You are correct. Had to put ut into garage. They've already had an hours diagnostic on it and decided it's the MAP . Its gotta go back Wednesday now for them to work out why they are failing

btw do the new ones have to be coded to the car? They want to charge me 215 for a new one

Fiat dealers want 215 just for part! Hubby just disconnected it and plugged it back in then wiggled it. The lights gone off!! Will see if it comes back on in the morning as it normally comes on from cold. Thank you SO much. I'm not gonna send it back Wednesday if it doesnt need coding. I'll just get that new one just in case

215 what.. for what?

Ebay should list options. Eurocarparts..a couple of versions.
I bought the replacement from euro. Fiat want to charge me 215 for part, then fitting and then investigation as to why they keep contaminating

Unless it is still under some form of WARRANTY it makes no financial sense to go to a main dealer.

This motor is in so many cars.. most general garages will be familiar with it.

We were at the end of our tether with it. Only now the garage and Robert have said its the map again we know what it is. We've also been told most parts need coding so we were panicking.

We are in west Wales Robert?
Update for you. I bought the part you recommended. They tezted the one on it that we replaced and said they couldn't get readings. Got them to fit the Bosch one and they said readings were good. They reset everything and I had it back yesterday. Instantly tell the difference not to mention the extra 10mpg!

Go out this morning and the p#####g light has come on again :( its only ever from cold.
A y ideas? Really am loosing it now lol

Difficult one. Really need to get the codes read and indicated temperature and pressure values when it's cold, both engine off and engine running.

The light could even be for somthing unrelated and just a co-incidence. It could also be a damaged wiring loom or bad connection. Needs methodical work but it's difficult when the garage can't see it cold.

I'm near Cambridge so a bit far. I worked at Rhoose and lived in Barry for a while years ago so still have friends in the area.

Robert G8RPI.
