My Serbia built usa 2014 500L has incorrect owner's manual info on fuse locations under the hood. Also, downloaded the fiat website manual, and it too has incorrect location. Contacted fiat usa customer care and they don't care. Manual and web site info state F24 is the Stability Control System but that is blank and the slot does not even have contacts in them to accept a fuse. F23 for ABS is correct. So did they get rid of ESC fuse???
here is their response (and they closed the case file)..."Based on the information you have provided, I would be unable to provide accurate information as I would have done the same here on my end by using the owner's manual provided from our brand website."
Big Corporations...don't get me started LOL

are you sure the car has ESC ?
would explain the lack of the fuse for it

Yes, it does. Has buttom for ESC OFF between seats and also ESC dash lights. I'm assuming it's integrated to the "whatever" somehow.

The German manual for December 2015 500L does not list any fuses for ESC or ABS under the hood. For which model year/month did you download the manual ?

Ours is a 2014 500L, both the owner's manual and the web fiat2014 download match each other, and both are incorrect. will send pics of actual box

Here are the pics of underhood box...

Where did you get the downloaded manual from ?

I just downloaded the english and the german language user manual from

https://aftersales.fiat.com/elum/Home.aspx

and both do specify only F10, F20, F85, F86 and F88 (for the engine compartment). That is why I was wondering where you found the information about the ABS fuse. Maybe you used an U.S. website ? US manuals might be different from the Euro ones ...

Yes, at FiatUsa site...here's something interesting, i checked the 2015 and 2016 downloads for 500L...the 2015 matches the 2014, but the 2016 matches what i have...go figure

I assume that they do not fix errors in older versions of the manuals ... so if one downloads later versions, it MIGHT be that there are errors fixed ... but it also MIGHT be that there are actual changes made to the car which do not match the older cars. Go figure .... ;)

The problem with "printed" media (even in electronic form) is that it gets shunted around the internet and can end up being posted out of context and in the wrong place.

For example, if you found an electronic version of a User Manual on a US site you might assume it's for US spec' cars but that manual could itself have been lifted from a EU site where it was published for EU spec' cars.

Unless the precise specification of model(s) to which the manual refers are listed on the front of the manual there's no way for us to tell whether it applies to US or to EU spec's... or whether those are the same or different.. and if different, how they are different.

Your User Manual should be the place you look first... although as has been pointed out, the manual might be incorrect in minor ways.. which a later manual might correct (or it might introduce new features which don't apply to your model, or errors that weren't errors in your original manual).

If you have another manual that shows your fuse box as it is, rather than how your original manual says it is, then copy that information and paste it into your original manual. Spec's change fairly frequently and the manuals are not always updated in time (or you simply get an out-of-date manual because that's what gets put into the car when its built). It's a tricky one.

I'm still wondering what will happen if I remove the "rear electric window" fuse from my Fiat Stilo. It has manual rear windows. What's that fuse actually doing....?

The problem extends further, my printed manual from the car states that I should use FIAT 9.55535-DS1 certified oil but the online eLum copy states that I should use FIAT Classification 9.55535-S1.

Some of these manuals are plainly given out to wrong variants. I know my car has the 1.3 Multijet of Diesel EURO 5+ emissions, I believe the newer EURO 6 Diesel engines use the DS1 spec. The printed manual is in black and white, whereas, the online edition is in a new colour format.

So do be warned of the manual when buying a used Fiat, in my case I believe they took the manual from another rental car of the same model as they had the same model car for sale and on hire. I'd trust the online manual more as that is the version to which the stuff corresponds to my car. If you do end up buying a owners manual, that is also a problem for you.

Ooops, seems to have been problem raised in 2017 through the Ducato Euro 6 thread https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.u.../OIL-Warning-for-Ducato-Euro-6-Engines/47017/.

So yeah you could potentially void your engine warranty if you do use the incorrect spec or if your maintenance mechanic doesn't know about engine variations. I do know some Fiat garages not even bother to use Selenia but Castrol as its easier to source and cheaper - meets Fiat spec and they wouldn't be none the wiser. After a year of using it myself, I have not noticed much difference now (mainly placebos since putting it but after that seems normal).
