So, 3rd time transmission light has come on, warning to use less gears then won’t engage gears once stopped. 2mls transmission fluid first time around and 30amp fuse, two months later 1ml transmission fluid and 30amp fuse for the second time, then on Monday just gone 1ml transmission fluid, no fuse needed but wouldn’t start after parking up when I got home. 30amp fuse and it starts and moves, but it’s last trip will be into the fiat garage. Off side headlight blown 3 times since purchase, off side spot flashes intermittently. Local garage couldn’t get solution with computer plugged in or clear the infernal oil change service light despite it just being serviced. The 30amp fuse appears to be linked to the pump.... I’m sick. So into fiat, get it sorted then trade it in.. I suspect previous owner probably did that too. Love the car, love the drive, but unreliable.

Is the oil light flashing with a message saying change oil, or does it say something like oil service coupon expired?

Quite likely service light can only be reset by Fiat or using MultiECUscan software. Standard generic stuff probably can't do it. If not reset, car will get upset.

When you say 1ml and 2ml of oil, is this the quantity to top up? Is it really giving trouble when it needs 1/1000th of a litre of oil?

Yes, because it was serviced at a non Fiat garage, it won’t recognise it’s been serviced. £50 later service light is now rest.

Bizarrely yes a tinsy amount of transmission fluid needed, along with 30amp fuse replacement. So after a day on diagnostics and a trip out to see if the problem would happen again, which it didn’t, they concluded it is a faulty earth, corroded or something. So they have checked and replaced wiring, waiting to see if the car can be collected tomorrow. It could be a sheer coincidence about the transmission oil but the last time it happened, after 1ml it selected gears and I was able to drive away, only later after I had parked up over night did it then stop completely and need a new fuse.

The main battery earth cable, from the negative battery terminal to the engine and car body is known to corrode internally on Punto, Panda and 500, but usually after some years. I'm surprised this may be the case on a 500L as I'd expect them all to be too new, but if this is the issue with yours (and the symptoms fit), then this is something to watch on these too. (Or is yours a 500, not the 500L?)

With a new cable and the connections cleaned, all should be well again.

So I have had my Fiat 500L for just over 2.5 years now and it randomly showed a check transmission warning light. A couple of days later I went to start the car the engine turned on fine however when I put it into Drive the car just revved and started to roll down the hill, my immediate reaction was to put it into reverse and move it back however this didn’t work either again just revved when I accelerated.
You can hear the gearbox engaging with the gears when moving them into drive and reverse however it just won’t move.

Had a mechanic come out and look he plugged his diagnostic machine into the car and it told him
the clutch speed sensor needs replacing?!
Has anyone else had this issue and is the clutch speed sensor the thing that is causing this issue???? HELP with 4 kids and a baby on due in the next 2 weeks life is becoming so hard without our car

Oh go on tell us how ...:)

Like this.
Reset oil light after service... that is very important. And don't skip the oil change either.

1-turn on the ignition key,
2-press the gas pedal and hold it,
3-press the brake pedal 7 times without releasing the gas pedal,
4-keep pressing the gas pedal for 60sec.
5-Release the gas pedal and turn of the ignition key,
6- Wait for 60sec.
Then turn on the ignition key and start the engine. Check if the service/oil change light turned off.
That's all! The vehicle is Fiat Doblo, works on Linea, Qubo/fiorino also vauxhall combo.

for 2012 forward models.
So far I have tried it on a 2014 1.6 multijet doblo, a 2015 1.3 multijet doblo and a late 2013 peugeot bipper with 1.3 multijet and magneti marelli ecu (I was quite surprised at that one multiecu wouldn't talk to it.)
