Hi All, the gear stick on my 500l mpw (14 plate 1.3 diesel) has stopped returning to the center after coming out of 5th gear and has to be done manually to get 4th, and also when coming out of 2nd and going to 3rd its as if it has lost it's spring action, does anyone know what the problem is and if it is an easy fix, Thanks in advance

I think It may be the spring inside the base of the gear stick, this happened to our Croma. If it is similar then it is like an over large hair spring wound a few times at one end with the two legs springing the stick central. At its age I think it well worth trying getting a dealer to sort it as the spring is faulty.
Thankfully it should easier to fix than our Croma I ended up making a new spring from scratch!

It may just be the linkages on top of the gearbox. I had this on my 500 last year and had to grease them.

Get someone to move the gear stick over to the right and and back while you look at the linkages, you'll see the one that moves. give it a good grease and work it for a short while and see if the problems goes.
