Happy New Year to all.

Our Fiat 500L 2014 0.9 twin air has an issue with the climate control. When the engine heats up the air con / climate control blows HOT all the time. Moving the temperature gauge makes no difference. On a long journey (2 hours) yesterday it was a problem. Every 5 minutes I had to set the temperature on Lo to blow cold air - the only setting that cold works on - then go back to 16 degrees for super hot air until it got unbearable.

We went to the dealer with this last year and he said there was nothing wrong with the car and he gave it a thorough checking out. I would love to hear if others had a similar issue. I am going back to the dealer in January with it and I would like to be informed so if there is a known issue I can pass it on to him.

Thanks in advance
Adrian

Hi,
the climate relies on a series of automated flaps to redirect air around the dashboard,

these have been known to fail mechanically, ( expensive major surgery)

but there are also driver resets that can be performed.. ( cheap..worth a try)

look in the 500 section for more general info. https://www.fiatforum.com/500/447639-only-blowing-warm-hot-air.html?p=4310419

IDEA..
years ago my TIPO TD had a broken linkage.. so I would put my hand down under the dash to manually adjust the valve = coolant flow through heater matrix..

modern cars dont have this valve .. but on a TA there is LOTS of space to fit a small inline valve where the small heater hose goes into the bulkhead.. adjusting from HOT to cool / cold should take around 1 minute.. and be tool free.. (y)

worthwhile against a 1500EURO dash rebuild ..or an 800 mile trip to Hampshire, UK

The ambient temperature sensor seems to be at fault. Today it is reading 63 degrees C when the real temperature is 10 degrees C. Does anyone know where to get the part and is it an easy diy job? thanks

If you watch the short video you will see the temperature is reading 63 degrees C and it is the outside ambient temperature. I changed the settings to F and then back to make sure both readings were the same. They were. Nothing for it but a trip to the dealer to get it sorted. The temperature in Cork in Ireland was 12 degrees C. When the outside temp is reading this high the air con in the car blows cold all the time as it trying to compensate for the temp difference. This is a pain.
