Hi peeps,

Anyone got the alloy wheel issue, i would say rusting but of cause there alloy ! It's like a faded surface of the rear wheels only, been told it could be something to do with using hand carwashes!! Any idea's?

Thank you.

Marcus

I recall reading something about the chemicals used in some of the car washes that will damage them. Sure there was a post in the forum here somewhere but I could be wrong.

I have Fiat 500L Trekking, I had issues with all wheels with corrosion in certain areas, took to dealer who thankfully stated that they were under warranty (was18 months old at the time) and had all replaced free of charge. If yours is under warranty, take it in.

Great thanks, yes it's covered till end of October 16, I'm taking it in tomorrow (Monday) for another issue, I'll tell them about it... Thank you

Update on the wheels, they've said they can't change them under warranty! So I called Fiat customer service Italy!! They said they will look into it? I've had a text with a case number.... I'll update you again...

I would def challenge that, or take to another dealer, all four of my wheels were corroding, looked like 'spiders legs' in various parts of each wheel, I was told by my dealer that it was quite common, I was told the wheels are sent away and refurbished, and there is a constant turn around of wheels, yours go in and you get another set of refurbished ones. I have had mine on for about 8 months now and no issues at all, out of interest my original wheels were the dark gun metal colour, I was told that their exact replacement couldn't be guaranteed, which occurred in my case I got a lighter colour, which I wasn't bothered about.

Mine are light grey, they have the spider Web thing also, but it's only the back two! I was not offered refurbished! I will ask about that. Thank you. Marcus

I have just come back to Fiat after a few years, I found a 15 plate 500l trekking with less than 1000 miles and the alloys had the same issue! Before the final purchase I asked the MINI dealership(who I purchased from) if they could get Fiat to sort the wheels out under it's remaining warranty. Fiat agreed to refurbish all four and a great job was done.
As of last Saturday I'm a proud owner of another Fiat :)

15 plate! That's why then, I'm on the 3rd year which is the dealer warranty and does not cover as much as year 1 and 2 of the manufacturer warranty...

Mine is the trekking also 1.3 duelogic tdi 63 plate now with 55k! In beige and I love it

It would be interesting which type of alloy wheels are affected. The different wheels may very well be from different manufacturers.

Mine have product code 5FB (17" 5 twin spoke wheels , diamond white). Mine are still like new (car is almost 2 years old), but I have seen the same wheels offered on the internet used with paint issues.

Btw I do not drive those wheels in winter.

Brandy

Sorry these
