Head to a dealer.
Mine did this last week and the car is still at the dealership. They have had to run a software patch and update the Dualogic software.
I hopefully get it back tomorrow.

the message will have stored a fault code ,
getting the fault code read should help in diagnosis,
as suggested - the vehicle should still be covered by warranty..,
so choose a convenient dealer, and book it in,

Hi guys, thanx for you replys. It's been to local dealership twice! Only got it back Tuesday, tonight it's come on again. The car is running like normal, the duelogic changing gears without issue. First time they told me it was a faulty sensor! 2nd time they said it was an update issue, they told me they had to call Fiat UK and they in turn told them to do a certain update. Had the car back since Tuesday and been fine, back to its reliable self, it's not actually broke down and can still be driven, just the red symbol flashing driving me nuts.... So I'll be back to Marsons in the morning...
Update; Marsons have had my car since Monday, they keep calling me to give me the details of what's happening! They called this morning, asked for my permission to strip the gearbox! They think it's an internal fault, if it's a none warranty fault I will have to pay £350 charge plus parts!! I called Fiat customer service Italy and told them what's happening, they told me they would look into the case and see if they can disregard the £350 charge. I shall wait. In the mean time the Panda they have loaned me is quite good for a two cylinder!

Hi guys, guess what? Yes they still have my car!! Almost a month! They took the gearbox out did something and put it back, said on the road tests it now had a slight judder when pulling away? Never had one when it went in. I honestly think they don't know what the issue is!... Did you get your car back andystarks? Is it fixed? If so what was it? .... Cheers

Great news, got my car back today after one month! Seems to be well so far. It's had new flywheel, clutch plate and thrust bearing! Under warranty, seems on the duelogic they only last up to 55, to 60k! While had it they fitted a new USB unit, but they've managed to break the cover on the 12v outlet and the outlet does not work to well, so back next week for half a day or maybe one day? Fiat UK have been exceptional throughout I would recommend getting in touch, it's free to call
I wonder whether the gearbox is the same they use for the U.S. models. The american 500L forum is full of complaints about that gearbox.
Maybe, maybe not. The US model has a 150 hp engine, so it might well be a stronger version ...
