fiat 500l trekking 1.3 multijet with dualogic. 1500 km

Sometimes when accelerating smoothly I can hear a strange grinding noise from the front of the car. Usually it's just after gear is changed to 4th. lasts a few seconds and disappears.

Not sure but I suppose it's happens when the gear is changed up but accelerating is not strong enough and transmission is not sure whether to continue on 4th or switch down to 3rd )) or maybe the car thinks whether to enable turbo or no.
I know it sounds stupid but there is no noise if to accelerate hard.
there are no other symptoms and I even don't hear it if the music is on.
Again, I'm not 100% sure, but have a feeling that it happens more often when ECO mode is on.

Maybe someone had the same issue or have any ideas what it could be?
thanks.

not identical,
but chips1 had a gearbox noise..https://www.fiatforum.com/500l/418689-instrument-cluster-replacement-new-vehicle-2.html

varesecrazy Mine turned out not to be a gearbox noise in the end. It was merely the radiator plastic guard vibrating when you hit a certain speed (about 15mph) then it would be constant. It was only specific to the Pop Star as the other models are laid out slightly different in the engine bay I am led to believe which is why the other car they tested was the same. Also after they had finally found the reason behind mine there was somebody else with the same issue somewhere else in the country. I am still however getting another noise which I spoke to the dealer about but it seems everyone must be deaf as nobody can hear it. The difficulty with this one is that it happens twice after the ignition has started and you drive the car for a very short time and then you don't here it again until you restart the car. Only downside to having this happen? I can tell you exactly when the noise is going to happen in each of the 2 locations. But as mentioned the dealer cannot here this so in a little over a year they will be having the car back which is why I have not bothered to on at them.

do you know how that vibrating was fixed?

It has something to do with fixing the bumper to the radiator guard, I think the guy who was writing the report must have been a doctor in his past life as I can barely read the info I have. This issue I was having is a bit different to the one you have. Mine was a constant ticking sound at speed (similar noise to having a stone in your tyre)

@chips1 ;)

you'll be glad to know the "Midlands Italia" stickers you helped organise are still doing great service(y)

Glad to hear that, took a bit of time getting there with the design lol. I did have a baseball cap done up which homeward has, not sure if anyone did get to see it though.
