I've just bought my first ever Fiat! A 500L Lounge 1.4 petrol 2013 model. I'm really excited even though it's much more sluggish than my previous car, however I keep telling myself I'm not a race car driver :) it's smooth to drive and I think it looks ace.

Does anyone have any tips or can make me aware of any niggles that may need my attention? I've just realised I think it needs new front tyres already and they look like expensive low-profiles. and what is the deal with 6 gears, it sounds good :)

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone :)

Welcome to the forum. :) It's not terribly busy in this section, but there's always someone able to offer advice if you need it.

Our 500L is due to arrive very soon, we've got a new one ordered from the factory so been a looong wait. It's also a 1.4 petrol as you can't order any others now and we didn't want a diesel. I've been a little nervous of how weak it may be, but was happy with the test drive. What car did you have before?

Can't really help with any niggles as I'm just as new at owning one. I've noticed a few complaints about electrical gremlins, but the car itself seems pretty reliable with no major issues as far as I'm aware.

I had a Nissan Note before but I prefer my 500L. I don't think I was putting my foot down enough because this morning when I set off to work it was much better at overtaking on the motorway. Yours might be even better because I think the newer models have a fuel injection.

I hope your long wait is over soon. I struggled to wait 2 days for mine!

The wait is an absolute killer lol, it was ordered on the 4th of February so feels like forever. What's most frustrating is that it took just 12 days to get from Serbia to the UK, but has now been sat in Bristol waiting for a transporter for nearly 3 weeks.

Glad to hear you're getting on better with the engine today. I believe ours is the same one, Fiat decided to remove the twinair and turbo-jet engines from the UK market a good year or so ago. No idea why as they're still available if you live in other parts of Europe. Reviewers don't seem to like it, but there's a few members here with the 1.4 and although they say you sometimes need to make it work hard, I've not heard any complaints. One or two have even said it feels surprisingly spritely lol.

Hope you have lots of fun motoring with your new ride. :)

You must update us when it finally arrives! I'd be tempted to drive to Bristol myself to collect it. I can't believe it's just sat somewhere waiting for you.

I like that fiat owners stick to fiat for their next car, I see that you used to have a Panda.

I'm much happier about the engine size the more I drive it. I just love it at the moment :)

It arrived at the dealership this morning and we're picking it up on Saturday! :D

We love our little Panda and it's only 2 years old, but sadly it just isn't big enough for our family. We've been more than happy with it, so we went straight back to Fiat to find something similar but bigger. Funnily enough, we loved the look of the 500L back when we were buying the Panda (there was a gorgeous yellow trekking in the showroom) but it was out of our budget at the time and we thought the smaller car would be fine. Plus we were wanting to downsize from our reliable, but massive Honda CRV lol.

Great to hear you are enjoying yours more and more. Would love to see some photos. What colour did you go for? :)
