My 500L 1.3 diesel Auto Trekking just turned 2 years old, has covered 23,600km and we are very pleased with it, the only problem we have had was the battery needing replacement after about 3 weeks, which we were told it was simply a bad batch fitted at the factory.

Fuel consumption is consistently an average 6.1l/100km (46.3mpg), this is mostly busy hot city and highway driving with the ECO mode and A/C always on and the stop-start always off, not fantastic mpg for some, but I have a heavy right foot and am satisfied.

Apart from traffic light Grand Prix starts the Trekking keeps up well and I have never felt that I really need more power (I often drive very high powered cars and motorcycles so don't need to get my kicks at my own expense:D ), we have taken the Trekking up and down some pretty bad dirt roads, the suspension coped well and have used the LSD on soft sad and it got us through, we have several times had 5 big adults out for a day, up and down the mountains and no complaints from passengers or driver.

The sliding rear seat is great, forward it swallows loads, back it gives more than enough passenger room, the overall quality is good, we have no rattles or squeaks.

1st Service was just €129, if the second (due shortly) comes in near that I'll be very happy.
My only irritant is the boot floor, I keep the various motoring junk and spare shopping bags under it, it's a real PITA and just lifting the edge to pull something in or out never seems to work and I have to reset it almost every time. The ECO thing that you put from car to PC is a waste of time and I just don't bother with it but the rest of the infotainment system is very good and we have no complaints but a CD option would have been handy.

So...If you're thinking of buying a 500KL Trekking I have no hesitation in recommending that you do. (y)(y)(y)

great to read it as I've bought exactly the same car recently. If you have dualogic transmission. or it is another automatic?

is your fuel consumption the same as it was from the very beginning or dropped a bit after some period of time? I have 6.4l\100km during 1000 km in the city. it's great for our traffic but I still hope it can be even less after a couple of thousands kms.

Sorry it is dualogic, not straight auto.

My fuel consumption was an overall average of 6.2/100km in the first year but minutely dropped to 6.1 in the second, if I maintain a cruise controlled 100kph I can get down 4.8-5.1 l/100kmh on a 150km highway run...I did it once but it just isn't how I drive.
Good Luck, it's a great car.:D
