I saw the question about fog lights, And yes it would have been nice to have bought the car with them, But my question has anyone either installed they factory originals? I'll wire my own but when I lowered the lower splash guard it appears the front bumper would need to come off. Any Ideas. Its a 2014 500L, Easy model. Thanks Ron

They are connected to the CANBus so not straight forward
as the car would need reprogramming etc.

Possible but expensive unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Could be cheaper to install the OEM lights but install non-standard switch/relay/wiring.

I understand all to well the hook up that is not the question. I Have the factory lights brand spanky new, When I went to gain acess to them after removing the lower splash guard I don't see an easy or workable access. Has anyone installed the physically. If so did the front bumper cover have to come off? If it has to be done , pulling the cover then so be it. I'm capable of that. I just want confirmation before I yank it off. Ron

Hello.
I'm just considering buying and fitting the genuine Fiat foglights myself. Did you go ahead with fitting some yourself, and if so, what sort of job was it to actually physically fit them into the car. I'm not concerned with the wiring side of things as I'm a retired Electrician, just whether you had to remove the front bumper to cut/fit the lamp units, and what sort of a job was it to do this, ie, one or two person job to remove/refit?
Keith.

I haven't done it yet. I see no easy access to the bumper area where they go. It looks as if the front bumper cover needs to come off and I'm to lazy. I pulled the lower cover and all of the mounts are in the way. Then looking at the prospect of just bulb changing later has not made me a fan of the lights. Maybe when I get ticked off I'll try it again.

Once in its simple basic wiring to complete so go for it. Don't let those earlier responses slow you down. If your looking to install them it goes without saying you didn't get that option when you bought the car. It's not like I'm going to buy a newer car just to get them. I wonder some really read the question before they came up with the response

I'll have a closer look around the bumper area myself once the high winds and rain have passed (Rolling about under a car, even in my large garage, isn't my favourite pastime in retirement). Having bought the car used (1 yr old, 3300 miles!) I didn't have the option of factory fitted and no intention of paying silly dealer prices for a job I can do myself. I see that despite being Genuine Fiat, the lights are relatively reasonably priced, and they're helpful for winter driving, so may well go for it. Thanks anyway.
Keith.

did you manage to install fog lights?
I just got a pair so looking for how hard is to install by myself.....

Not got around to looking at how difficult it would be to fit the lamps yet, I'll wait until we get some warmer weather before I have a closer look. I think it may be essential to remove the front bumper on the car, as it will probably be difficult to work on fixing the lamps from the rear through the small access hole in the inner wing panel. I've not bought lamps yet, and may not bother if it's too big a job to actually fit them onto the car.
Keith.
