Hi there,i have been looking at both the Fiat and the Kia models as per title, both are very nice in different ways.Really like the look of the Fiat 500L Beats Editition but cannot decide between the two_One thing that is worrying me about the Fiat is the reliability issues as reading a lot of reviews online they don't seem to be to good.
The Kia has got the 7 year warranty behind it to back it up but does not have the looks like the Fiat.
Any info and help deciding would be greatly appreciated....

DERV or Petrol?

You should be able to negotiate a 5 year guarantee on the 500L
if reliability is an issue.

not my kind of bus.., but the 7 year warranty is the best avaialble,
however KIA dealer support is still thin on the ground ( even worse than FIAT's)

my inlaws had a sportage, out of warranty and had to essentially scrap it , as nearest dealer was 1.5 hours away, nobody else would look at their "weird tech", (n)the FIAT has a lot of GM / FORD common parts.

TBH IF I was going to spend LARGE sums on a new vehicle.. I would rent 1 for a weekend trip away, and REALLY get a feel for it,

Charlie

I don't have the details to hand but you might want to check how comprehensive the KIA warranty is in later years. My understanding is that in the later years it's dealer dependant a bit like year three of FIATs warranty and this leads to variable application of the T&C's sometimes. (I'm happy to be corrected if somebody else knows different)

Hi Jono. My last car was a Kia Soul which I had from 2011 to 2014 and I loved it but back up from Kia was abysmal. I thought a change was in order so I looked around and I spotted the 500L Trekking. I was very reluctant to hand the keys back after my test drive. I've driven most types of motor vehicle over the years and I can honestly say my 500L is top of the pile.

Interesting re Kia's customer service - you're not the first person I've heard/seen make a comment to that effect regarding Kia/Hyundai customer service. It's weird as on the face of it I'd expect a watered-down Toyota or Honda experience, but whilst their cars seem pretty well screwed together, some of the comments about their aftercare make them appear worse than Fiat customer service, and Fiat can be quite a gamble.

If you can get on with the looks of the 500L then I'd go with that. They're good cars in their own right, just let down because they don't fit the 500 badge that Fiat rather clumsily grafted onto them. The Trekking/Beats Edition suit the looks better, but I think the 500L would've been more successful as a Giant Panda. That's essentially what it is, styling wise. It's customer base also seems to come more from ex-Panda owners than 500 owners too.

Thanks Guys for all your info.I am now about 98% sure on the Fiat 500L Beats Edition.Hopefully in the next few weeks I should own one.
Think I will try and get an ex demo one with around 2000 miles on and try for an extended warranty in the deal....feeling excited now..
