Hi,

in case anyone would like to see how the dashboard looks like with the instrument cluster removed :D

The frame around the instruments and the radio is just tucked in, on my 500L it could be easily removed by pulling it straight away (to the left of the speedo there is a small gap on the inner side of the frame where it can be grabbed easily).

I also removed the instruments (searching for the source of the rattles from inside the dashboard). The instruments are held by 4 screws.

So,did you manage to find the cause of that strange rattle? I had the noise on the passengers side and after removing the door of the lower glove compartment (it is held by two strings and some plastic knobs) I found that the plastic that was holding than aircon filter was loose. Also checked the passengers airbag because in some cases it is pretty loose-held by two screws (was written about that on this forum).I am sorry for my english (don't know exact mechanical words to explain sometimes)...:)

Hi,

not yet, but I am quite sure it does not come from the passenger side on my car. It is hard to locate, mostly it seems it comes rather from the left side (of my LHD car).

It also seems to occur depending on motor vibration (it gets stronger on acceleration) around 1500-2000 rpm. I received a hint from someone in a german 500L forum who wrote he had quite exactly the same issue, and in the end it turned out to be a faulty engine mount. I will try this weekend whether I can hear a noise from outside with open bonnet, with someone revving the engine at 2000 rpm.

Just looked at your post on removing the instrument cluster on your Fiat. I'm trying to removed the plastic cowling behind the steering wheel to access the instrument cluster. Any idea what size and type are the two screws holding the cowling from underneath - they are not slotted or Phillips head. I'm working on a 2015 Fiat 500l...
