Brake dust

I am getting a lot of brake dust on my wheels, should this be normal for a new car? I guess it did not help with the wife wanting to have them powder coated white as it shows up a lot more.

I should have known better really but I did buy some brake dust repellant from Halfords but it is not doing much at all.

We don't get anymore on our L than we have on any other car TBH.

I suspect yours shows it more because of the wheel colour, ours are just std. silver/ grey alloys.

Brake dust repellant wont make it go away it will make it easier to wash off.

But as you've stated yourself, it will be the wheel colour.

Also, if it is a automatic then you will get a lot more brake dust.

Re: Brake dust

Lift and coast as much as possible, you'll save allot of fuel too

Very little gets onto the faces of mine BTW, I have the black diamond wheels.

The wheels wash really easily TBH as the holes between the spokes are big and the spokes are not very deep - I don't worry about past the faces as you can't see there anyway esp. as mine are gloss black between the spokes.

Re: Brake dust

I had a car with white cross spoke alloys once, drove me insane, spend ages cleaning them, drive for 10 miles and the looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a week!
