Always better to convert it there, so that the host country makes it to their spec.
I am in e-mail contact with Fiat.es using a translator. At first they said ask you dealer but when I explained that I had they have sent it on to another department so we will see what comes back.
Have been looking at placing the eurolighter beam deflectors today ahead of doing it on the ferry. I have found that dipped headlamp bulb is in the top unit whilst high beam for headlamps is in the bottom unit. I am therefore assuming that I have to place the deflectors on the lower unit partially covering the high beam bulb.

Re: Changing Headlamps

The deflectors are for the dipped beam. Main beam stays as is for all markets.

Point the car at a wall. The dipped beam gives a flat top with a diagonal extra bit upwards on the left. This shines further along the nearside of the road to show the footpath/pedestrians etc. This will shine into the eyes of oncoming traffic when you drive on the right.
With the lights pointing at the wall, position the deflectors on the upper lights to remove the flick up part of the beam, leaving a flat top all across. The deflectors are likely to fit below the centre line of the lamp as the beam comes off the reflector upside down.

As per earlier posts the dipped beam comes from the upper unit, this is the unit that casts the light that can be problematic when driving on the right as it casts light up to the left which is what can dazzle drivers when driving a RHD car in a LHD country.

The lower units are for main beam and don't need converting to drive in a LHD country as they dazzle regardless of which ever side you drive on and just need to be off when approaching a car coming the other way.

If you have a genuine set of Eurolites they will have come with fitting instructions. For the 500L they need to be fitted in accordance with Diagram 5, that is looking directly at the light unit you fit the circular piece only with the top edge just touching where the centre bulb sits in the unit.

They have to be fitted quite precisely as per the instructions in order to properly avoid dazzling other road users and potentially picking up a fine.
